You can overcome a weakness at many positions but not at QB. You don't have to be an All-American but you need to have a few skills. This will be his 14th game as a starter. For college, that's more than enough to show what you've got.

Wow, so AJ has no skills? I would say that if you watched Blake Simms or Nic Marshall or Dak Prescott with your same tainted eyes when they were soph QB's that you would have made similar comments. Here is to hoping you don't know what the heck you are talking about, no offense of course. Just want better QB play for our tigers.

Sweet! So this is a thread where the Rant can shite on not only one, but TWO LSU players at the same time!

Yes!!

At what point do we bring in Miles and Cameron to shite on them too?

if AJ is going to continue to develop anything, I hope it's in the complete opposite direction he's been going this season....because whatever we were doing with him, it wasn't working

YOU COULD SEE it in the Texas A&M game. Though didn't throw much. The passes he did throw were very good and he looked much more composed in this better offense style. He is one of the better QB's in the SEC. That being said though, Harris still has a much higher ceiling.

1. He definitely is improving and has not hit his ceiling

How so?

I've watched every game he has played in (most in person) and watched him carefully. I've watched his interactions on the sideline, his footwork, his reads, his actions before/during/after each play, his body language, etc.

I've been trying to see if there's anything to indicate progress...or the play calling holding him back...or inexperience of those surrounding him...etc.

I've given this kid the benefit hoping his work ethic would finally pay off. I don't have a crystal ball but I just don't see it happening. I have no reason to favor Jennings or any other QB. I'm not friends with any of these guys and have no reason to dislike Jennings.

I just see an enormously talented team being held back by the key position on the field. I've seen a kid who often misses wide open WRs (by a long shot), who resorts to running far too often, who looks lost, who stares down #83, and who can't get the offense in the endzone.

I REALLY want him to succeed but don't think he's going to have some sort of epiphany and become a great QB. That doesn't mean I dislike the kid, or hate him, or wish him harm.

You can overcome a bad QB with a great scheme

You can overcome a bad scheme with a great QB

You cannot overcome a bad scheme with a bad QB.

well pennypacker that is because over the course of a season you would hope to see a player get a little better each game. if someone puts up the same numbers over and over, its not just about "good" or "bad", it also becomes about, "has this player shown improvement over the course of a season". now of course, you, being myopic, will say "bbbuttt butt buttttt he had his best game in the last game of the season! clearly he was improving!" if a QBs best game of the season is one where he runs for more than he throws, and he still is struggling to complete more than 13 passes, then you cannot help but have cause for concern.

but ya know, thats just like, my opinion, man.

I'm glad the teammates support each other, this is what they are supposed to do.

That being said, he's obviously not fooling any one of us.

when you get to this level in the SEC you should not be learning how to pass.

learning how to pass in the college game is different from passing in the high school game. likewise, learning to pass in the nfl is different from passing in college. learning happens at every level.

don't be such a curmudgeon.

Not originally. He was a highly recruited QB while in high school that the staff a Georgia tried to convert to DB.
Get your f**$ing story straight.

Of course not because a bunch of athletically challenged imbeciles that post here always know more than the people actually performing for the LSU team. Amirite?

As much as you miserable fricks want to bitch about his lack of production, you sure are quick to trivialize the productive rushing offense he provided.

quote:

struggling to complete more than 13 passes

You wouldn't have been happy had he completed three more of the passes that he threw night and finished 15 for 21 for about 150yds...because then he wouldn't have completed 20 passes for over 250yds.

based on the Texas A&M game when we changed to a better more legit scheme he played much better. Didn't have many completions because we didn't throw often.
