Ending your post with this makes all of the rest of it sort of pointless.

My response in that thread was:

My associations with friends, colleagues, and acquaintance haven't changed since the riots up north started.

I still freely associate with an incredibly diverse crowd and gravitate to people that share my interest. So we talk a lot of sports. This stuff on the news barely hits my inner circle radar.

Same here. That's why I can't figure out why so much of the board is melting. Nothing particularly even interesting is happening right now.

Yes. I am the first person, ever, to use the term "both sides" loosely when discussing general left or right wing politics.

I don't think the "hard right" senses any "weird air of desperation", FT. As for the "other side" on this Board...hell...there aren't enough to make gravy with. This board has always been dominated by the Right.

And much of the reason for that domination is related to the Left's inability, to cogently offer oppositional dialogue which undermines Righties' arguments. Note Navy's response to Pimp's bomb. Playground mentality.

ETA...what you perceive as 'desperation'...is merely cultural/political strife in regard to the basic Principles - Constitutional Capitalism vs. Collectivist/Marxist/social justice - in regard to which underpins our form of Governance.

Never before has the populous of those who support the Marxist/anti-Constitutional version...been numerically able to challenge those Principles for dominance. Today...they are, and do. And the Right knows damn well what that means; it means a Government "boot on their neck". It means that their ability to work harder, in order to afford and pay for extraordinary affluence...will be negated by the "spread the wealth around" Ideologues who will be in control.

60 Minutes...last night....Cuba...80% of the folk down there work for the *government*...all paid the same, not much. They all get the same ration book for food. Social justice. Obama/Progressive version.

The "desperation" that you sense...is a form of acquiescence on the Right; a realization clarified by the example up there in Ferguson...that the vast majority of Black folk and a significant % of duped anti-Capitalist Whites are virtually delusional. They truly believe that the rogue/thug Brown was JUSTIFIED in his (counter-) attack on LE. Because LE has no respect for his reaction to what is an unjust societal mechanism. That's why Obama/Holder ordered the Guard to stand down...and let the heathen 'vent'. And Constitutional America....WATCHED...AND LEARNED.

So, what is left? There is your "weird air of desperation". A sad acknowledgement that talk...is hopeless; when oppositional groups are in two different realities.

Merry Christmas.

You're the one who called Pimp out on his posts about the cops being killed in a thread about people melting down. The inference is that you don't think it's a big deal, so I addressed that as a separate point.

Won't cost you much, buddy. One good belt...and you'll get a slurred and utterly indecipherable soliloquy of how Religion and Science are coming together in a "Second Coming" to birth a grand vision and give all of us a fair shot at Utopia. You'd come out better by just looking at one of my landscape paintings; that's probably the best of my offering.

Be well.

One side is claiming that Democratic politicians and the media are partially culpable for this outcome.

The other side is calling them hypocrites because they were called out for doing the exact same thing in the past.

The Democrats believe they have the moral high ground and are throwing the words of Republicans back in their faces, despite the fact that they've acted in contrast to those very positions before.

Republicans don't want to miss an opportunity to shame an opponent and they don't want to give up the chance, knowing that that tactic will be used against them, despite what is said.

In the end, neither side would give up the chance to attack a political adversary and neither side has the moral high ground.

This is how politics is and always will be, a disgusting display of partisanship.

That's essentially what this board has always been:

it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

It has been crazy. After the cops were shot there was just a wave of crazy trying to pin this on any "liberal" they could find a connection to. Most of it seems to have fallen on attacks against deBlasio, who a ton of posters are suddenly experts on.

I live in NJ and didn't know anything about him until the Ebola stuff came up. Don't know why so many southern posters are so well read on him.
