I think this is a product of our natural pattern-seeking inclination. I don't think the belief in gods is something that is inherent or instinctual--it's more of a by-product of our base instincts.

This isn't a conversation about faith. It's about laws.

If you put up a statue of one thingamajig, you have to put up another statue of a thingamajig because the law cannot favor one over another.

It has nothing to do with God, gods, G-d, or fish.
