Need a law saying that big rigs may only travel in the right lane on I-12.
Way to much congestion in that area for that to work, would have just one huge convoy of trucks. Wouldn't prevent cars from causing incidents, would actually would lower a trucks visibility to avoid accidents

Mainly, these wrecks are caused by 4 wheelers and not the big trucks
You full of shite! Any dumb a-hole can get a license to drive a rig. Even Mexicans that are temp works.
My SIL is in very bad shape now. Bleeding in his brain. All due to a dam Mexican that couldn't speak a word of English, driving a dam 18 wheeler without any lights.

Yeah there are some rebel truckers out there, but not like the old days. The trucking industry is the most regulated industry, and due to these companies dealing with lawsuits, they put a lot of pressure on drivers regarding safety. Speed limiters, GPS tracking, and cameras.
Not to mention these guys have families they are trying to raise, and know an at fault accident will basically kill there earning power. (Not that they make much to begin with)
Meanwhile the passenger car is doing a list of things other than trying to be safe and respect the dangers of what they are doing
There are multiple problems at work here. 18 Wheelers should NOT be allowed to travel on the interstate anymore. It is our fault for the way we have built and developed interstates. They are no longer used for travel for great distances as they have become "local transportation routes" as well. The rising levels of local traffic that now use the interstate have made the bulky and vision obscuring 18 Wheeler a deadly dinosaur on the roads. They invariably use their mass to pass at the wrong times and clog the passing lane, drivers become irate and act stupidly in a bid to get away from them, and the idiots that drive both 18 wheeler and car combine to be toxic. There should be a special "Transportation only" interstate corridor that is used to move goods.That- or bring back the trains. We are using a system meant for long distance travel as a daily route from one exit to the next. It is a problem of poor planning and and not anticipating the future of travel.

You want them to fund the interstate maintenance, but they can't use it. You are a fool

You have offered no solution and think there is no problem. You seem to be the fool.

They need to put a blocking mechanism on internet service in all cars, its crazy how many people are on their phones while driving, and they aren't just texting.
yeah definitely.
I also saw a lady eating a plate lunch while driving the other day.

sounds like the company is breaking the law, and yes most sugar cane haulers probably don't even have a CDL. Goes back to enforcing laws

Why do these pictures always show the trucks strewn across the highway fricking shite up. I'm calling Michael Hingle. I think he has the answer.

Obviously fire Les for losing control of interstate trucking.
These wrecks are not happening with Les' people, these rogue drivers were brought in during Saban's tenure.
Les is wrecking with Saban's recruits.

And even dumber people can get a license to drive a car. You make a good point about the Mexicans though. They must have diplomatic immunity because they drive like shite
You aren't gonna catch many farm truck drivers with a CDL. Hell, I've driven a log truck about 30 miles before.

Jumped in the left lane to pass another couple of 18 wheelers and didn't see that cars were already in it?

well the problem is typically the "4-wheel" drivers, as he said. requiring driving tests more often and creating very harsh penalties for driving without a license or driving recklessly (including seizing of a license) is how you attack the problem.
if we assume your point is true about "4-wheel" drivers using the interstate more for its non-intended purpose, then we point the finger at them. if we assume (and i don't think many are arguing this point) that "4-wheel" drivers are the reckless ones far more often than not, then we point the finger at them.
the logical step is to make the interstate harder for them to use; not the 18-wheelers

You have offered no solution except that it is the driver's of the cars at fault because they don't pay attention. You leave no room for the amount of bad 18 Wheeler drivers that use their mass to pass when and how they want to. I have been nearly run off the road by them multiple times. While I can agree that there are a lot of bad drivers out there my point still stands. The way we use the interstates today is NOT what they were designed to do, and the 18 wheeler is not compatible with the congestion we deal with in today's world. We need special interstates that take them out of pedestrian car traffic or we need to have a massive re-design for the 18 wheeler. If you can't find logic in that I can't help you. You seem to leave all the bad 18 wheeler drivers out of your equation.

One problem is that both the size and weight of trailers has been increased in an effort to have trucks compete with railroads - and those heavy trucks tear up the highways and are dangerous.
