No, I mean Garfield. Parker/Spider-Man is known for being quirky and funny, but Garfield plays him like such a smarmy little douchebag. He really ruins the character. Fortunately, the rest of the movie kind of sucks, so it's not much damage.
really disagree here, Garfield is Parker off the page.
Parker is a smarmy little douce. You just happen to see his inner conflict. Spider-Man is kind as seen as a wise arse punk who is really good at what he does that people eventually warm up to within the 616

Parker is an introverted, shy nerd. Spidey is where he comes out of his shell. As Spiderman, Parker is a smartass douche.
The allure of Spider-Man is that he has real problems that anyone can identify with.
I was hooked on Spidey in the book where he went to call the cops after snagging a bunch of baddies, but then realized he had no place to keep change for the payphone in his tights.

what can Spiderman do outside of the city?
Peter Parker is still basically a genius just a step below Banner, Pym, Stark, and Richards

Is there a superhero or villian that they didn't make into a super genius?
I don't see how that's much of an advantage when everyone you fight with and against has the same thing

He's a smartass, but not nearly the douche that Garfield plays. It's annoying, like the kid who incessantly whines and complains when he loses and won't shut the frick up when he wins. There's nothing endearing about that.
I don't think Toby captured him either, but at least he wasn't so annoying.

So far in the MCU
Heroes - Thor, Sif, Odin, Warriors Three, Heimdall, Frigga, Captain America, Falcon, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Agent Coulson, Daisey "Skye" Johnson, Deathlock, Agent May, Iron Patriot, Hawkeye, Starlord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, Yondu
Villains - Obadiah Stane, Raza, General Ross, Emil Blonsky/Abomination, The Other, Laufey, Algrim the Strong/Kurse, Ronan the Accuser, Winter Soldier, Brock Rumlow, Batroc, Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver, Lorelei, Absorbing Man, John Garrett, Blizzard, Blackout
there are probably a few more and some of these would be debatable depending on your definition of super hero/villain

No, just a perpetually whiny, weepy bitch.

Why? Garfield was a better Spider Man.
Because I think the opposite?
There are two ways in which Spider Man has been drawn and done in the comics. THere's the super wiry guy with no shape and there's the more muscular super hero who looks more like a gymnast. I find the TM version closer to the second and what I prefer in an action sense.
I think TM caries off the Peter Parker role better as well FWIW. Having said that, I know this board has some pockets of real support for Garfield tho - go figure.

Spider Man 3 was a disaster. That's on the writers and director IMO. Doing that poor of a job on a movie with the Sandman and Venom says a lot about their work.

nah, its more on Avi Arad for forcing Venom into the movie b/c he wanted to sell more toys

I figured the nostalgia for our youth would have some people clamoring for the overtop Raimi's films, along with the pussified version of Spider-Man..and I for one buy Garfield behind the mask more than Tobey.

I liked the first two movies. I'm not sure if I should ask how you think the TM version in the first two is more pussified than the comic book character. I personally dislike the Garfield version because I don't think the story resembles the original version (in bad ways) and because they chose the gumby looking imagination of Spiderman when it came to the action scenes.
