I ate Popeye's on Hwy 59 in Mandeville for lunch and it was terrible. No wait and got spicy.

Personally I think WM's chicken is overrated. Gus's in Memphis is 10x better.

I wasn't impressed with Willie Mae's chicken. I was really excited to try it, had it once, and it made me queasy. I didn't think the red beans and rice had much flavor either. Maybe I went on a bad day, but it was enough to make me never go back.

Willie Mae's has some excellent chicken but the two best things on their menu are the country fried pork chop and white beans.
