Meh....Had Welter not been benched LSU wouldn't have won 5 games this year and Miles knew it. Anyone on this board could have made that call and saved the universtiy 4 million dollars.

And, as far as Collins goes he started the last three games of the season (SEC games); played in every single game. And, will be the starter in the bowl game. So, I don't know if you could say he really lost his spot.

Point is, one has to be as out of place as Welter was or not on the team to truly lose their job.

don't put too much stock in recruiting services or practice "sources". There are endless examples of why you shouldn't.

Yeah, it had nothing to do with young DTs developing. Kendall Beckwith must be the greatest LB of all-time if he's solely responsible for 4+ wins.

Collins started in 12, lost his spot to RR last year. Hilliard to Hill. Magee to LF. We can continue down this road through 05 if you really want to. Instead just admit you are wrong.

Well if it didn't why wasn't Welter the starter at the end of the season? LSU's DTs certainly didn't digress at the end of the season. Amazing!

LaCouture is not as bad as this board makes him out to be. Hell I think he was the MVP of the entire front 7 this year. Did his job consistently.

He'll start. Valentine isn't going to do anything but sit in a lot of reserve PT next year. He hasn't even seen what it's like to stand up against another college lineman. He definitely will not be starting at the beginning of next year I can tell you that much unless he's utterly dominate in every facet of his game.

dgnx6...with over 21,000 posts I would expect a little more from you. The running back argument is silly. There are no "starters". Hell, if LF took over for Magee, as you say, why did Hilliard start against Bama??? Was LF that bad? Obviously not.

I need to see him play. Hype sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. As Roger pointed out, if Valentine is good he will play a lot of snaps. Chavis has proven over the years if there is minimal drop of he will play as many as 6 DTs and 6 DEs to keep them fresh. When we see only 3 or 4 playing those spots, it means there is more than a minimal drop off with the 4th or 5th guy up in the rotation.

I know he's a huge guy, I'm friends with Desean and they're roomates. But give the guy a shot to prove something before he doesn't live up to the hype and is demonized.

Frick who starts, lets just hope we have quality depth...with Thomas, Bain, LMAO, and Valentine...
Hopefully, Gilmore and Herron get it together too.

Kid's played well. Was pressed into action as a freshman, and he hung in there. And he improved very steadily this year. I don't understand why some fans are wishy washy about him.

Pick any player on the roster and someone will find something wrong with them. The defensive front had trouble early last year, some people will hang on to that until every player that participated is gone.

Starting won't really matter as much next year. Chief likes to rotate 5 or 6 guys in the middle but never really established that kind of depth. Next year we'll go back to seeing that steady shuffle of big guys and it will pay huge dividends in the 4th quarter of games. Valentine will be a beast and Godchaux may be on the path to the 2nd coming of Dorsey but big LaC will see a ton of time.

Just from this year

Welter to Beckwith (Welter lost it after Auburn)
Quinn to Diarse (Quinn lost his start after the Bama game)
Thomas to Godchaux (Thomas didn't lose his to injury)
Hilliard to Fournette (Hilliard lost his like half way through the season)

I wish y'all would stop running with the stupid board memes that don't make sense.

Pocic took Feohoka Fanahoweveritsspelled's spot, too. In 2011 Minter took Hatcher's spot.
