I wonder how much recruiting Miles does with his draft eligible

players. Does he just sit back and let it play out. Does he just simply layout their options of staying or going. Or does he actively recruit them to stay. (Like the short guy does at that other place )
I guessing he just lays out the options and backs off.
Anybody care to guess or know anything about it?

I would assume he cautions the player about what is in that individual's own best interest... evaluating the pending draft class and the next, critiquing the player's individual strengths and weaknesses, and how additional playing time could increase visibility to scouts.
Though I would assume that he would also encourage all of his players to obtain their degree.

Other than McCarron (was never going to be a high draft pick or starter) and Mosley, what big time Bama draft eligible players have come back??

I've always wondered this too - but let's leave bama out of it.
I've always said that lsu needs to establish a culture in which leaving early simply isn't acceptable.

Yeah, Miles is probably just kicking back in his Michigan - themed la-z boy at home thinking "I hope all juniors just apply for the draft. My financial future is dependent on success on the field so we may as well just use as many freshman that have never played at the collegiate level before. "
Of course he is trying to recruit them. Are you saying he intentially is trying to sink the program or wants to lose his job?

You never know. After we fire Miles, Saban might realize how much he misses LSU and come begging to be rehired. I mean, why wouldn't anyone want to come to the greatest program this world has ever seen? He can retire after winning 5 straight national titles. It can happen.

What can you really tell a person that has their entire family depending on the decision. By some players getting the league minimum it increases the family income 10x. It just depends on if the family is in a place to wait or not

Les probably explains the potential benefits of staying for guys who aren't obvious first rounders, where staying can make them more money in the long run. Other than that, I'd imagine it's the player's decision.

I know you were being sarcastic but it's a fair point - we as fans need to stay and so do the players

The short route to the NFL is how we get the recruits. It's our gift and curse. Back in the day you had to get a degree in 3 years if you wanted to leave early(Thanks NCAA....bastards). Teams like Florida State and Nebraska used to dominate because they had teams full of 5th year seniors.
It's hard to tell a kid, "I know you got a couple million dollars waiting on you when you leave, but you should stay, help your team, risk injury and get a degree so you can do something after you retire from football at 33 years old."

Tell that to the kids moms who are struggling at home with probably no father figure helping bringing bread to the table. Most of these kids were raised broke as frick and know how to make the best of the worst. Who are you to sit here and tell them what they should do?

Yeah, true enough. I mean why break the cycle by getting a college degree when you can continue it?
38 kids that declared early for the draft last year are now limited in their earnings ability because they declared early and were not ready.

Wait...does declaring for the draft make former players ineligible to return to finish their degrees?
I think the most dishonest part of this ongoing discussion is the pretense that most fans give any fricks at all about these guys as people. Fans, in general, want players too return because it aids that fan's chance of hopefully buying a new National Champions t-shirt the following year.
Unless and until you guys could pick these guys out of a line up WITHOUT their uniforms on, can we just quit suggest you're looking out for the kid's best interest?
***This is a blanket statement and I'm well aware of that. While I do not think it holds true for all that suggest this, I absolutely do think it holds true for the majority...and a large one at that.

To me this is a bunch of crap.... If a family waited as long as they did bf then what is another year especially if that year would benefit the family by 20 times compared to 10 times by staying poor one more year?! This is the dumbest excuse I've ever seen. The ONLY thing that should influence your desicion is the business sense, if you can't benefit money wise by staying or if you are a first rounder then go BUT if you can earn more money and draft spot by coming back you really should do it for your family situation!!! The higher the pick the more money you are worth there for the NFLs investment is greater there for will keep you around for a few years even if you are under performing, just to see if you turn into a good prospect and you have more trade value too!!! It's really stupid to come out early if not, family or not. If LSU really cares about these kids then they would hire a professional advisor to come in and tell these kids what the best option is not let some agent do it for his own agenda. Go Tigers!
