7 year bump.

I was poking around in my post history and came across this monster thread from back in late 2014.

For those who weren't there, it was a group of different tailgate parties, each from different colleges across the U.S.. They were competing against each other to win something--maybe tailgate equipment IIRC? Dunno. Anyway, there was a group from LSU who asked the OT for votes.

I was bored at work when it got mentioned, so I decided to see if it could be won for the good guys. Ultimately, I set up 8 computers in our server room to constantly load the contest page and click the LSU guys' button 24/7. It was unmanned after initial setup, and once everything was implemented, it would push through about 50 votes/minute. I added a few other computers towards the end--highest I ever managed was around 100 votes/minute.

I used the old-school screen macros instead of scripts because of the contest rules against bots. The organizers did a couple of things to stop me along the way--including launching doing a Rick Roll audio loop when devices using my IP address voted. Got around that by using a VPN.

Good times. No real reason for today's bump other than realizing it happened 7 years ago and was a CSB.

Merry Christmas, you filthy animals. And a happy New Year, too.

Ha. Thanks, man. I remember we were anti bots initially but when that ASU dude was clearly using them, the OT unleashed the hounds and we won.

Good times…
