CBS 2015 NFL Mock Draft: Thoughts on our pick at #10?

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon
2. Tennessee Titans – QB Jameis Winston, Florida State
3. Jacksonville Jaguars – DT Leonard Williams, USC
4. New York Jets – DE Randy Gregory, Nebraska
5. Oakland Raiders – WR Amari Cooper, Alabama
6. Washington Redskins – OT Brandon Scherff, Iowa
7. New York Giants – DE Shane Ray, Missouri
8. Carolina Panthers – OT Andrus Peat, Stanford
9. Chicago Bears – FS Landon Collins, Alabama
10. New Orleans Saints – DE/OLB Vic Beasley, Clemson
The Saints locked up Junior Galette to a long-term deal, but need another athletic pass rusher who can give opposing offenses trouble. Beasley is an athletic rusher who can drop in space and be an aggressive chess piece for a 3-4 scheme
Anyone you wish would fall? (if the draft went this way). Or anyone you would have preferred who is still available? LINK

Sure, fine. People who know more about our depth chart than I do - are we severely deficient at DT right now? Or are we thin and exposed due to injuries?

I don't think you can ever have too many pass rushers in the NFL

We need different starters at CB, linebacker and offensive line next year. Pick the best of those positions early and often.

I would love for Ray to fall. I don't like Beasley though. He is way too light and I think he would get owned by a lot of tackles and TEs in the league. I'm a big fan of Nate Orchard.

Our lack of pass rush has been the biggest problem with our defense and I think we need to overhaul both lines. So yea I'm on board with this.

I know it would be too early, but I think the MLB from Miss. St. is a monster.

Plus Gallette appears to be completely delusional. Calling out previous Saints Veterans, talking shite, "league of shadows"... sometimes it feels like he thinks we're undefeated and he has 15 sacks on the season.

I still think that a healthy secondary of Lewis, Vaccaro, Byrd, Bush, and Robinson is way above average on paper. Robinson isn't as bad as everybody says - it's that his ball skills suck because he's always being asked to lock down a WR for 5 seconds (because our DL sucks arse) and then he gets picked on since he's the weakest link.
That play yesterday where Cam Newton missed the wide open FB for a touchdown was the epitome of how/why our defense sucks. We sent 7 guys and nobody got even an inch of penetration. It was God-awful.

These are two stupid projections. No way teams are lining up for mobile QBs...especially Tennessee who just rafted a QB last year.

Walter Football always brings it with their 3 round mocks:
Round 1, Pick 10: Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida
The Saints got rid of Victor Butler, so they definitely need to work on finding an upgrade across from Junior Galette. Anyone who can tackle would fit in well, as their putrid defense couldn't even stop Andy Dalton.
Round 2, Pick 41: Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
The Saints have had major defensive issues this season. Some of their players can't tackle whatsoever. Meanwhile, the corners, particularly Patrick Robinson and Corey White, haven't been able to cover anyone.
Round 3, Pick 76: Reese Dismukes, C, Auburn
The Saints' starting center, Jonathan Goodwin, turns 36 in December. He'll be a free agent in March
Dat SEC draft tho

Fine with me. We need another pass rusher big time. If Jordan and/or Galette don't get pressure, no one else is. Haralson is really only great at setting the edge for the run game.
I'd really only want a lineman or CB otherwise that high.

They would be crazy not to look for a qb.

Is it too early to start suggesting trading down?

We need to get out offense back to an elite level. I'm definitely looking offensive line if an elite one is available here.

Don't they have four on their roster, though? Mett and Locker are both really young. Unless they think they both suck...I would not touch Winston.

Jordan/Junior are underperforming relative to last season, but they're still OK. We're not getting any pressure in the interior, and our run defense is falling apart, so I'd put DT as a much higher priority than DE/OLB.

They need qb help badly. Mett and Locker both get killed back there and Locker is actually mobile. They are both major injury risks. The only reason I don't see them drafting him is because of the off the field issues.

I really don't trust our front office to take a defensive player at all. I'd much rather grab o linemen or wrs and get our offense elite again. I feel like we can make a much larger immediate impact going this route as opposed to allowing a pass rusher to develop for 2-3 years. Clock is ticking on Brees career.
