I have been a apple smartphone/laptop/tablet fan since 2006. I had the first ever iPhone and upgraded every other iteration since, my last one being the iPhone 5.

I am a network administrator at a hospital. I used android early in it's inception on the first ever tablets and was not impressed. Then last year i got a nexus 7 tablet off craigslist for $100 and started to enjoy android and rooted it, etc and got comfortable with it as a mobile OS.

I use all google services from play music to gmail to google keep for notes. I also own a macbook air 2012 model and have an apple tv and chromecast, im looking into getting a fire tv as well.

I also own an android based Ouya game console I use for playing emulation on my TV.

I once said I would never deviate from the iPhone because I love the polish and a jailbroken phone has been the coolest tech I've ever owned.

I wanted a bigger phone and when the phablets started coming out I was starting to learn towards the Note 4 for my next phone. Then the iPhone 6+ was announced and my brother and wife have one, it is amazing piece of tech.

But I think I'm finally going android this time around because comparing the specs between the Nexus 6, Note 4, and 6+ it looks like a no brainer to go android this time around.

So between the Note 4 and the Nexus 6 what do you guys think? I heard TouchWiz gimps the Note 4. I'm also wondering why google wont allow a SD card expansion on the Nexus 6.

Main use will be personal but will be using citrix and exchange for work.

Thanks in advance.

ETA: Also talk me into staying with iPhone ^+ if you can, I just dont see it, and this coming from a former apple die hard fanboy.

We has some things in common.

I use exchange and citrix for work.

I have been an iphone user since the beginning.

And now, I have a shiny new Nexus 6. I'll probably never get a fricking iPhone again.

The are basically two main arguments against SD cards. One is a technical issue dealing with multiple users and encryption, and the other is a cognitive burden issue for the user.

Android is clearly moving in the direction of multiple users and encryption, which are both good things IMO. The problem with SD cards is that they are typically formatted FAT for maximum compatibility, but FAT has no concept of users or file ownership, and encrypting it is kind of messy I think. This could be resolved by using a different filesystem, but then the SD card would basically be 'locked' into only being useful in that one device.

As for the cognitive burden, I know many of us don't have much trouble managing files across multiple storage media, but most people don't know or care where their stuff is physically stored. And to be honest, I don't always want to think about that stuff, either. It does become a hassle adjusting settings for each individual app to tell it where to find and save the files it uses. All music, photos and videos on the SD card? Is the SD card fast enough to save UHD video you shoot? Does it load photo thumbs fast enough so that gallery apps don't feel slow? As a user, do I know enough to blame the slowness on my decision to store my photos on the SD card rather than the phone? Do I even remember I did that?

I used to be all for SD card slots on phones, and I considered it to be a huge advantage for Android over iPhone. But after thinking about those arguments, I think it's best that they get phased out.

I have a 6+ and I think it's great, but if you want to try out Android I think you should. I'd get the Nexus 6 hands down if it was between that and a Note 4.
