I'd imagine this "AD" position for him would just be full control of financial resources in the department and the ability to hire his own coaches.

Harbaugh would not be responsible for any other sport and would have assistant ADs to handle everything else.

I'm surprised this hasn't been used as a negotiating tool with coaches before. You always hear of coaches being pissed they can't get the facility upgrades they want and you always hear of assistants not being hired for whatever reason.

Imagine if Malzahn was the "AD." You think Muschamp would be weighing offers right now or accepting the gawdy offer from Auburn? Same thing with Sumlin at Aggieland.

It is absolutely impossible to be AD and football coach today. Literally impossible

This sounds like Harbaugh would want absolute/total control over the football program aside from the AD. I don't think any Univ Admin will ever let that happen.Add to that the rumored 7-8mil/year, and it sounds like to much power concentrated in one individual.

Similar things were said when Alabama hired Nick Saban.

If Michigan wants to retake the top of the Big 10 and start competing for national championships again, they have to figure out a way to be the innovators of the world.

Honestly, allowing the head coach to make all financial decisions regarding the sport that brings in the most revenue is a good offer.

This really is the best board by far. I wish it was open year round.

It's certainly better than anything on The Comedy Channel.

Don't believe anything chicken says, period.

The fact that he brought that saban to tx bullshite to his own boards should tell yall something.

And now this? Freaking hilarious.

Chicken was correct about Saban and Texas, a fluid and uncertain situation( typical of big time coaching changes) changed late due to UT idiots that screwed up the deal.

The idiots are worth more than everyone on this board.

in all seriousness, if the AD position is being negotiated with Harbaugh, then that leads me to believe that he's not seriously interested in the job.
