Avery’s two companions were carried straight to their death over the waterfall, but Avery was able to scramble onto a log that was caught between two rocks. After holding on for eighteen hours, Avery managed to climb onto a rescue boat that was guided downriver. Unfortunately, the boat capsized almost immediately, tossing Avery straight into the river and over the falls.

That reminds me of the story of the GI that survived the Bataan Death march, numerous hell-hole jap prisons, diseases, and starving. after japan was liberated the USA air force dropped rations to the prison camp.... a box came loose, cans came out and one hit him on the head and killed him..

I saw this happen to two girls that were with me in an aluminum canoe. We were in the middle of a big lake and the storm caught us. Freaked me the frick out. Both girls just balled up and cried until I could paddle us to the bank. Their hair was standing up just like that in the pic.

quote: The photo above was taken by a security camera in February of 1993, showing two ten-year-old boys abducting 3-year-old James Bulger from a mall in Kirkby, England. After taking him on a 2.5 mile walk, the boys tortured and murdered him, leaving his body on some railroad tracks. The boys were found guilty of murder and became the youngest convicted murderers of the 20th century.
If I was the father, I would be burrowing a hole like a groundhog to get inside their jail cells

even worse..
quote:
one of the boys threw blue Humbrol modelling paint, which they had shoplifted earlier, into Bulger's left eye. They kicked and stomped on him, and threw bricks and stones at him. Batteries were placed in Bulger's mouth. Finally, a 22-pound (10.0 kg) iron bar, described in court as a railway fishplate, was dropped on him. Bulger suffered ten skull fractures as a result of the iron bar striking his head. Dr. Alan Williams, the case's pathologist, stated that Bulger suffered so many injuries—42 in total—that none could be isolated as the fatal blow.
Before they left him, the boys laid Bulger across the railway tracks and weighted his head down with rubble, in the hope that a train would hit him and make his death appear to be an accident. After Bulger's killers left the scene, his body was cut in half by a train. Bulger's severed body was discovered two days later, on 14 February. A forensic pathologist testified that he had died before he was struck by the train

yes.
They only were in jail until 18. One went back in for three years for Child Porn.
I left out that police believe the attack was partially sexual.

I remember seeing this on the news.. the guy pulled the gun out of a brown paper bag.
R. Budd Dwyer
Robert Budd Dwyer was a Pennsylvanian politician, serving as the 30th Treasurer of the State for six years before his death in 1987. Only moments after the above photo was taken, Dwyer committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver at a news conference in Harrisburg.
The incident became notorious for having been broadcast live on television across Pennsylvania. Dwyer had been convicted of receiving a bribe from a firm trying to gain a government contract. Throughout the court case Dwyer maintained his innocence, and it later emerged after his death that he had actually been framed for the whole thing
