I forgot Joey. It was Pedro (AIDS), Michelle Parma (car accident), Frankie (Cystic Fibrosis), and Joey Kovar (overdose).
Then Diem and Knight.
Three of them were pure medical reasons, and MTV probably knew Pedro was going to die within a year or two when they cast him. A cynic could say that's why they cast him. Frankie's wasn't as inevitable, but let's be serious, someone with cystic fibrosis who smokes cigarettes isn't long for the world.
And the two guys with notable substance abuse issues before they were cast (Knight and Joey) unsurprisingly did not keep up with their sobriety when fame came around.
It is interesting to note that guys like Wes and Bananas were saying that there was much less partying and steroid use going on in recent seasons than in the Fresh Meat I-Ruins era, but Knight was definitely the exception to the rule when it came to partying. Guy sounded like he was on xanax in every interview he gave.
And yeah, he was on Battle of the Exes II with Jemmye. It's going to be really weird to show him. With Diem, she was on the show for just a few days, and her battle with cancer was actually inspiring. This is just awkward. Not Ryan Jenkins winning I Love Money awkward, but still. I bet he was eliminated fairly early on though, as there were lots of good teams.

I hope they don't go back and edit him to try and keep him in a good light. That would make him boring.
Knight was the most funny when he was being controversial i.e. pantomiming Marlon sucking dick and throwing ketchup on Jemmye (who is apparently terrified of ketchup for those who don't know)

screw the cynics
that San Fran year was probably the most important season of reality TV ever made.
it a did a ton of good by showing that people with AIDS are not some sort of scary thing that must be avoided like the plague.

That's because the producers don't allow it anymore. They used to have unlimited access to alcohol and could go out anytime they wanted. Now they are pretty much stuck in the house 24/7. Big reason why they have a lot of trouble getting some of the older people to come back.
