One inside dog. She has full run of the entire house. Four of the rescues stay in a kennel. One free ranges around the back door. Everyone has a crate in a climate controlled utility room at night, except for the inside dog. She spends nights in the bed or on the sofa.

My dogs have always been inside dogs. That being said, as long as your dog isn't annoying and you bring it in during freezing/insanely hot days, I don't have an issue with it. I agree it's a dog, not a child.

No dogs in the house for me. Hate dog hair, dog smell, scratched up shite, and they've been living outside for millions of years. They like it.

Depends on the breed, but unless you're the idiot who gets a husky in Louisiana during summer or you have some yappy 15# lap dog out in a hard freeze, they can handle it. Heat lamp and some carpet in their house for the really cold days is plenty. Most of them can handle cold temps way better than we can.

Why have a dog if you are just going to keep it in the yard?

Because that's where they belong?
I don't understand the question.

Mine get their barrels filled with hay. Its like Christmas to them when they see me bringing a hay bale.

They get in their barrel and I just hand them wads of it and they stuff it up in there and make a nest until they can't see out of it anymore and then come busting out. It's pretty funny.

Dogs are best experienced outside.

I agree. Gf's dog and her roommate's dog stay inside. She constantly vaccums and the amount of hair floating around and on everything drives me up a fricking wall.

I have few hard rules, but no dogs inside is one of them. All of our dogs have always lived outside exclusively, and they're just as happy as any dog I've ever met. They get to smell like arse and the house doesn't have to smell like it, win-win. You know how much they loving rolling around in a good stank.

Here's a novel idea people: go outside. You get out of the house and get to play with the dog without having a house full of hair

So yes, dogs belong outside

Just had a realization that it's not as common as it used to be. People think dogs are people

Right? I don't get it. I understand apartment dwellers but I mean, do people have yards and not hang out outside?

Best security you can get is your dog inside at night.

Or a gun. The gun doesn't frick up your wood floors and doors and leave hair all over the damn place and smell like dog.

A good dog will awaken you so you can get up and get your gun

Security experts for years have said the number one thing an intruder does not want is a dog barking who will alert homeowners and neighbors. They will move on to the next house

The right kind of Dog will be all over the intruder before you can grab your gun and rack it.

The best security is both!
