HBO has rounded out the cast of “True Detective,” tapping Kelly Reilly for a key role as wife of the crime boss played by Vince Vaughn. Reilly will play Jordan, described as a former D-list actress who is an active partner in the criminal enterprises run by her husband, Frank Semyon.
HBO has also confirmed at long last that Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams are co-starring the sophomore season of “True Detective” opposite Vaughn and Colin Farrell. Production on the eight-episode season has begun in California, HBO said Monday.

That's all I wanted to hear.
Smart choice.
I'd watch her scrub floors in a hotel.

No shite. I don't know how great she'll be in a gritty crime drama, though. She's always been all Notebook style.

So hot

I was admittedly rooting for Elisabeth Moss for that reason. But I'd never have thought a combo of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson would've pulled off what they did in terms of gritty/dark acting. So I have no problem putting faith in the casting.
Still crossing my fingers for In Bruges-esque Farrell.

I watched Wedding Crashers the other night. I love Rachel McAdams. When she is looking across the line of scrimmage at Owen Wilson, she is impossibly hot.

Hard to believe that movie is almost 10 years old.

Yeah...and most of it has nothing to do with her. She could act great for the role...and try to be serious and gritty...
But there's just something about her onscreen that just makes you happy and smile...and nothing is ever really bad in this world. That's why I never bought the movie Red Eye...I thought after 10 minutes of talking with Rachel...anyone would be like..."okay, I can't do this....I'm out."
She's the Captain Crunch of actresses (makes you unconsciously smile) and this show is more of a complex (why do I like this?) LIFE cereal.

Wut? Woody has done gritty dramas and so has MM. Couple that with their great chemistry from a history of being friends and working together I don't see how it was a surprise they pulled it off so well.

When both were cast it had been quite some time since either had done more than Zombieland type roles or RomComs. And I wasn't sure how well they'd work together either.

I hope the tone of S2 is different and they don't try to copy S1.
That first season with WH/MM is one of a kind.

Again...wut?
Mud, Bernie, The Paperboy, The Lincoln Lawyer since 2011 and all done before TD was cast for MM alone.
Woody's list since then is a bit more spotty but he did No Country in '07, Seven Pounds and The Messenger not long after, and let's not forget he is no stranger to gritty film rolls.
They also have been friends a long time and have been on screen together before.

I am stupid excited about this. A serious version of his goofy character in Starsky and Hutch.
Very Excite.

If he is half as good as he was in Clay Pigeons, this season will be money.

Agree. Can't copy perfection. S1 gave me a whole new respect for MM. I'll be surprised if they can get close with S2.
