Willie Mays is much older than 44 and Ty Cobb has been dead for over 50 years. Who are you talking about?
Tris Speaker says Cobb was ok, but he was better defensively and almost as good at bat.

my god lad, there's probably a hundred or more better ball players than Griffey that played before he was born.

Make a list if you really think that. Also, if he doesn't have the best deep ball swing ever, name someone who does.

Griffey Jr. was the GOAT despite what the Baby Boomer oldtimers here will say.

Griffey had the prettiest swing of all time. You could definitely argue that. But Bonds was clearly a better baseball player than him, even pre-steroids.
Not saying it's not close between those two, but it's clear.

Babe Ruth couldn't hit the pitching of today. He couldn't field like Griffey.
I'm not talking about greatest player for their era.
I'm talking about greatest who ever played, period.

Happy Birthday Willie Mays!

Not that I necessarily think Griffey is the greatest ballplayer of all time, but there really were very few ballplayers who were 5 toolers like Griffey that could do everything as well as he could. Before his nagging injuries, he hit for power (before his injuries, he was well on pace to crush Aaron's HR record), average (even with his injuries, he hit a career .284), was a 10x gold glover with an absolute cannon, and was fast.
By the numbers, Willie Mays was better, but I know people can make an argument for Griffey Jr.

Ted Williams was frozen to prove the haters wrong. Ted for MVP in 2067!

Yay for comparing players from different generations!

griffey in his seattle year's was by far the best baseball player I've ever seen whom didn't have the lingering steroid questions. its really a shame how quickly his career went downhill when he went to Cincinnati.

Quit playing Jim Edmonds highlights.
