I now know why as you get older many men drift away from sports

These type of seasons kill you. Saints have given up and I guess so will I.

I'm so glad I've calmed down in regards to sports in general. 2011 drove me insane for a long time. Losses just don't bother me anymore and I'm thankful for it.

I want to quit, but I cant

Once we won the SB it became much less imperative

Not drift away . Just don't take them so serious and have sports dictate my day

My dad says the same thing. He watches and cares but never gets upset. I am becoming the same way. I watch and observe, but why get upset?

This season may be the tipping point. I think stopping fantasy football as well will allow me to care less.

No one needs to be that older guy that beats his kids after his sports team loses. In college sports were everything to me. Now I just care about my family and watch sports when I can.

having children can really change your perspective on life.
I'm sure most of the people on these boards, who get very pissed off about games are college students.

Yea. I quit fantasy football a few years ago. And I coach a lot of sports. That's helped me calm down and realize they are just games, and don't mean a thing.

I am almost 64 & was as excited as ever at the start of the season. The last 2 weeks the Saints (and LSU) have put my excitement as low as it's ever been.

Yep, the outcome of a sporting event is really insignificant in life as you get older.

A part of my attachment died in 2011 on the Vernon Davis td

Yeah, my anger has grown into more of a "oh well" ever since January 2012. Don't get me wrong, I still say "frick everything" when the Saints and LSU play like they have this season, but I can go on about my day and not really think about it past the game. This shite used to ruin my weekends and sometimes a whole week

Spent the entire afternoon listening to game online while finishing my son's treehouse /swing set outside in the 70 degree Florida weather. Didn't really care about the game. it's supposed to be fun.
Eta:I think you can still root really hard, follow a team closely, and have a great interest in them without being so negatively impacted by losses. I don't think it makes someone less a fan.

That happened to me in 2002. If you think this season is bad, take a look at that cluster the last three games. While I still have season tix, I don't nearly as invested or upset.

This made me happy inside.
Also, what is this shite on this site? You all fricking passionately love the Saints. They lose 2 games at home and holy Christ. You guys have quit as fans.
What the hell is going on here?
