What route you taking? I'm leaving from Thibodaux and was looking at taking 55 to Memphis to avoid all the backroads. Then take I40 to I49. Did you make this trip before? Any insight?

I've driven it many times, and I'd recommend avoiding the Memphis route.

Either go through Shreveport, then LR, Fort Smith...or take the route through Pine Bluff, then LR, then Ft Smith.

The Hwy 71 route straight north of Shreveport is beautiful, if you're interested.

In my experience, I have always hit horrible traffic between Memphis and Little Rock.

Do not, I repeat, do not go the memphis route. It will take you an extra 2 hours

I drove from Shreveport to Fayetteville today. Enjoyed the drive. I-49 is open from about 5 miles north of the I-220/US71/LA 1 intersection to Texarkana and just north of Texarkana. Most of the ride from Texarkana to Fort Smith is 2-lane highway though. From just south of Fort Smith to Fayettteville is freeway (I-540 and then I-49). Took about 5.5 hours of driving to make that trip today.

It may be scenic but it is slow and tiring. I do it twice a year and I do not look forward to it.

You all are tough, I was planning to go until I saw the weather report. We went two years ago and it was cold enough.
