My biggest issues with the offense/coaching

The problem is if this coaching staff doesnt have an elite QB talent like Mett last year they go into a total shell offensively and simply dont allow QB's to grow.
This year I use JT Barett and Kyle Allen as examples but there are many others this year and years past. Both of those two are true freshman who have had awful games this year but both have also bounced back to have great games. Why? Because they are allowed to. Had Sumlin and Meyer just said ah frick it got a true freshman starting so lets shut it down how would they have ever developed into better QB's?
Now sure are there going to be bad games? Of course. But there will also be good ones and eventually with more experience in big games and as they grown and learn from mistakes the bad games become far less and as junior and senior QB's become pretty efficient. Thats what developing a QB is.
But here they arent allowed to do much of anything. I would like to see Harris given this opportunity but if not then hell give Jennings the opportunity. I dont think he has the skills to develop significantly but at least try if thats who the choice is. Cause the shite we run on offense now none of our QB's will progress.
tl;dr version
Open up the offense and live with some possible growing pains now but have your QB developed for the future rather than having to deal with the same ineptitude year after year.

I don't know why they had jennings throwing the ball 26 times...
I felt like fournette should have had way more touches last night

My biggest issue is that we don't score a lot of points.

The #1 beef on this board has been QB play since Miles took over and for good reason. The few good QB's LSU has had, overshadows the real problem and it's not development. Les Miles is an old school ground and pound coach and will not hire, allow any offensive coordinator to change it. LSU will never be a balance team, have a creative offense or Heisman type QB as long as Miles is here.
It works most of the time but if it doesn't...LSU is at a huge disadvantage. Cam Cameron is either old school too or on a tight leash.

Bama is a physical team. Diarse is very physical. Seems like we might use him some. My biggest issue is our coach doesn't use common sense.

Meh 4 were in OT but still its just the whole philosophy of run, run, punt...dont be afraid to throw on 1st or 2nd down..thats actually when youre going to give the QB the best shot to complete passes anyway cause the D doesnt know its coming. They just seem to coach so scared....having said that if they are that scared to trust in Jennings then that should tell them the right QB isnt playing.

4 were in ot...but also how many were passes that Jennings ran the ball. They threw the ball quite a bit last night. We just didn't execute.
Posted on 11/9/14 at 6:43 pm to Fratigerguy
But how many were on first or second down? The ones Jennings ran for first downs were all on 3rd downs....they dont pass unless they absolutely have to which makes it difficult to do...if 18 or so of those 26 passes had been on 1st or 2nd downs I think there would have been a lot more efficiency.
Im not saying throw it 30 or 40 times. Its when you throw that matters...if u want a game manager then at least give the game manager the best chance to do so.

Les will always have the quarterback that he thinks gives us the best chance to win. Not saying that I agree with which quarterback is starting, but he has more to lose with his decision than any of us. He and Cam do seem to call games in a scared sort of way. Maybe, that's what gives us the best chance to win. Harris has to be having some kind of issue picking up the play book. Yeah, I know. All he has to know how to do is hand the ball off, yada yada. We had that game. The gameplan worked. Just had crucial penalties and drive killing drops. AJ is far from a world beater, but if you take away the drops, we're giving props to AJ and the staff instead of the tar and feathering.

Even with Mett, OBJ, and Jarvis last year we ranked 108th in the country in pass attempts last year.

how many more dropped passes will it take before quinn sees some bench time?

It goes back to the cupcake games every year.
Against Sam Houston we threw 18 passes, ran 58 times.
UL-Monroe 20 passes, 52 carries.
New Mexico State 20 throws, 54 carries.
And this is something repeated every year for all of Les Miles' tenure. The team gets no in-game experience with the passing game, and we run 164 of the most vanilla run schemes you could ever imagine in the same 2 games.
I am sorry. The offense will always under perform under Miles and he will keep getting cheered on by the Beefense's of the rant.

You mean like last year with a 3000+ yd passing QB and two 1000+ yd receivers... Damn, how quickly we forget.

Yeah we did have the game but the reason we lost was because we had zero competent QB play...the way we dominated the second half defensively had we just had decent QB play or play calling playing to win instead of playing to see who was gonna make the big play at the end to win then we would have been up multiple scores and the last few minutes wpuldve been garbage minutes. The LSU d dominated the second half and the offense did zero with it. So when you coach to see who can make a late play sometimes you will (ole miss) sometimes they will like last night....but if you take advantage or at least try to of the domination your d displayed then you dont have to worry about making last minute plays. That game shouldnt have been that close it really shouldnt have

He decides that overtime is the best time to throw 4 time straight. No run just pass. He coached like OT has a time limit. Unbelievable.

This this this.....even if you dont want to be aggressive in big games or take chances there is no excuse for not using these games to work on deficiencies.

The 1st down pass was actually a really good call. Just dropped it. After that they were in a dilemma of what to do.
