are we okay with really good but not quite good enough, or must we demand great?

When we're paying les 4-6 million a year and not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars his staff gets as well, we better be getting excellence and clear as day contention for a natty or BCS bowl. Not settling for the chicken bowl or capital one bowl.

The fact is for us to have a chance to beat Bama we have to play our game of the season, make few or zero major mistakes, hope Bama makes a few major mistakes, and typically be in Tiger Stadium. For them to beat us, they have to play decently well. In other words, it's always a heroic victory for us, whereas for them it's typically a hard fought but very statistically probable win.

This captures my thinking perfectly. It's not an insult to LSU or CLM. It is as it is. They are year-to-year a stronger team.

not even. You don't think Stoops or Richt could utilize some of our offensive weapons and be productive?

Eta: I'm not saying either or better than Les overall btw

Bob Stoops got curb stomped last night by Baylor. Miles holds his own against the best of the best and more often than not, beats them.

Bob Stoops is your basic lucky one coach. He won a National Title 14 years ago and has lost 3 NC to LSU (Nick Saban), USC (Pete Carroll), and UF (Urban Meyer). He said of the SEC twice this year "The SEC is overrated". Hey 6-3 Bob Stoopid get over your stupid comments.

Bob Stoops won a Consolation Game. Like when Clemson beat LSU in a Consolation Game.

"Bob stoops actually beat Saban last year in the sugar bowl bro".

Coach Saban isn't much for Consolation Games he uses them as a builder for the next year. Against Oklahoma he played 8 freshmen to prepare them for the next season.

When it counts Coach Saban is 4-0 in National Title Games. In 2003 LSU and Coach Saban beat Oklahoma when it counted.

all but a handful of programs

There are maybe a handful of coaches in the world who would improve on Miles' winning percentage.

I'm not even sure Saban is one of them. Without the biases in Alabama's favor and their status as a program, I don't know if he wins as much as Miles has.

In this fantasy some of you have about Saban coming back here, I still don't think he wins a higher percentage than Miles has had in his time here. I think recruits would be wary about playing for him, because it would once again confirm that he's a risk to get bored where he is and go elsewhere.

And then there is just about every other coach, who would almost definitely do worse.

That is true. Chokelahoma got owned. 45 unanswered points by Baylor. The assistant coach of OK stated early in August his coach (Bob Stoops) should get paid more. I email that Village Idiot and ask why. He would not reply to my request of facts:

Nick Saban at Alabama .843 4 National Titles 1.000
3 NC at Alabama and 1 at LSU

Bob Stoopid at OK .798 1 National Title and 3 loses in National Title Games. .333 Stoops hasn't won a National Title in 14 years so why would he get paid more. Hey Cale Gundy????

I don't blame Les for any coaching issues here. I do blame Les for the QB failures LSU has had, and for the unproductive offenses LSU consistently has despite better talent than most teams. A&M's 18yr old QB did great yesterday but we never see anything approaching that at LSU.

Yeah Kenny Hill had a great game too. That turned out really well for him didn't it? All you idiots want us to run our offense like that. What exactly has Texas A&M won?
