re: How can anyone honestly say Miles got out coached?

I'd agree with you if we weren't one year removed from the most prolific offense in LSU history. Miles was the coach then too.
Our passing game is largely dependent on true freshmen. That's going to be a problem for anyone.

The play calling before half really factored into the outcome of the game. I had no problem with LSU trying to do something with that possession because every possession counts. But if you're going to pass the ball (with a QB who only has a few completions), don't throw a short, high risk/low reward pass in traffic with a minute left near midfield. Throw it much further down field because he generally throws those passes well and if it does get picked, Bama will be way down field and probably won't get any points. LSU received the ball in the 2nd half, so I didn't understand that risk at all.
Those 3 points were huge in the end and we basically gave it to them.

I would agree but you have to be careful when giving an outlier more credit than it deserves. Time will tell, though.

Excellent OP.
I'm pissed we lost. But the loss isn't on the game plan or getting out coached.
Dukke V will be here any minute to tell you you're a dumbass.

Here's my thoughts that I posted earlier ....
quote:
It's like some sort of miracle was supposed to happen. Everyone in the world knew the gameplan going in because of limitations at qb.
Yet morons continue to believe that Jennings and the plan around him is to chunk the ball constantly.
Most of these peoppeople are incredibly stupid. It's so hard for me to read this garbage because everyone just HAS to find someone to blame.
Blame the dropped passes, blame the stupid PF that took them off the 5 yard line. Blame the stupid kicker thay kicked the squib kick out of bounds.
The squib is designed to take time off the clock. It's done at the end of halves evert week and when it's executed correctly, it takes ten seconds off the clock. Anyone that watches football knows that. Kicking out of the endzone doesn't take time off the clock, period.
Yet, the coaching told him to kick the ball out of bounds? That shite was the coaches fault? The players aren't allowed to catch blame?
Goddamn, 75% of MFers on this board are borderline fricking retarded
Hey derp look at me. Loss equals. Lame coaching derp
Blame the players this time. They were put in position at the end of the game multiple times to put the game away and they fricking blew it. Not the coaches.

. However, when you ask them to specify how Saban actually outcoached miles, and what role he played in the win...they can't tell you.
I have tried to tell you this but you will have NO part of it........... You are SOOOOOOOO Much fun to DESTROY...............

OK, I'll bite:
Second half stats up to bs penalty in last minute.
Alabama:
1 First Down
32 total yards
TOP, I believe was about 8 minutes (can't remember specifically)
LSU:
12 First Downs
175 or so total yards
TOP, 22 minutes
Actually, you are right, the more I look at it...seems pretty even.

Yeah, but even with that offense, it took a miracle drive by Anthony Jennings to pull out a W at home against a winless-in-the-SEC Arkansas team at home in Tiger Stadium. And Bama ended up blowing us out, holding us to under 300 yards on offense and completely shutting down our running game. It took great talent being in the system three years for us to be pretty good on offense. In 2012, we had the 94th passing offense with Mett, OBJ, Landry, J. Hill, Ware and Ford on offense.
The best I have ever seen LSU's offense against a good D was that 2012 Bama game. We used a variety of plays and tried to attack the D in many ways.

I don't think any reasonable person would suggest our staff was out coached last night. I think the frustration comes from the fact our passing game is so putrid. Youth is not an excuse 10 games into the season. We have too much talent to be as bad as we are.

And although the coaches did a really good job with the game plan for the most part last night on game day, not developing your passing game and having your opponent beat you passing with a linebacker that converted to a QB is getting out coached. It's just that they're outcoaching them during the the season and in the offseason and not necessarily on game day.

UUUHH we passed instead of running the ball which is our main stay. Could not execute a squib kick. Two of our players dropped easy passes which either cost us downs or a TD (Quinn and Jones). Our QB has not improved from the first game and could have Crawled for a first down instead of throwing up a prayer. We had a timeout to review the trapped pass catch by the Bama receiver. For the 2nd time in two three years we could not get a defensive stop in the final minutes.....I think all that equates to coaching in some fashion. And by the way I love Miles but I cant hide the truth.............

The only way he was outcoached was that the last LSU and Alabama series in regulation, and the overtime, were an object less in the discipline of a Saban team, and the lack of discipline of a Miles team.

You are saying lsu lost because of a Lack of discipline is hilarious considering the same play Bama players were hitting lsu after the play. But Saban teams are "disciplined". That was bull shite by the refs and not because Alabama was more "disciplined"

we lost that game because of the stupid foul called at the end of regulation. if you need other reasons, four KEY dropped passes and a kick off out of bounds.
given our passing constraints, miles coached a hell of a game.
the refs changed the outcome of that game. that call was the worst I've seen in over 50 years. he did not have to throw that flag, esp over a little push in a very physical game.
I have never bought the concept that bama gets the calls or pays the refs but I damn sure am coming around after that call.
