I thought Obama said no boots on the ground? Is he the biggest pathological liar in U.S. history?
More free weaponry for ISIS on the American taxpayer's dime

In addition, the White House Budget Office said it would ask Congress for $5.6 billion for overseas contingency operations, including $1.6 billion to train and equip Iraqi troops.

I'm sure they're all advisors in a non - combat role.

this is also why I'm laughing at Alaska contesting the results for 5,000 absentee ballots

Didn't we already train and equip the Iraqi troops? How'd that work out?

If memory serves me correctly the Iraqi troops pissed themselves and turned their high tech weaponry provided by the U.S. to ISIS. But frick it...let's try again!
$18 trillion in debt and we have cash for this? It sure seems that the White House actually wants to escalate tensions and keep funding ISIS indirectly. But what do I know?

CNN's titles are so misleading The Breaking News says "Obama sending 1,500 more troops", yet the news story just below it says "1,500 military advisors being sent to train Iraqi military"

Just because American troops are there to advise does not mean they are not being put in harms way and not be involved in combat.
quote:
A senior military official says that American military advisory teams will now go to Iraq’s western Anbar province where Islamic State militants have been gaining ground and slaying men, women and children. The teams are part of President Barack Obama’s new directive to expand the U.S. mission in Iraq by deploying another 1,500 U.S. troops to serve as advisers, trainers and security personnel.

No one is disputing that, but "troops" to most people means men/women with guns.

Whatever. The bottom line is this war is going to escalate dramatically over the next couple of years if not much sooner. The writing is on the wall.

Because Iraq is so safe?

Guarantee you that 90% of the troops over there have some kind of fire power on them when they walk outside. I'd consider that as being in harm's way.

Just some good FYI.
My oldest friend just got back after a couple of months flying around over in IRAQ and Afgan.
He said they all must be wearing nike if there are no boots on the ground He says he moved plenty in and out.
I asked him what he heard and saw and what was really going on with ISIS.
His response was "as bad as you think it is and have seen on TV its 10 times worse here in IRAQ".
I believe him he's a good guy and glad he's home.

Yeah this wasn't political that the decision didn't come until after the elections.

Probably going to the Dick Cheney "we will be greeted as liberators" party.
I just love how conservatives try to make the Iraq clusterfrick an indictment on President Obama.
