They straight kicked our asses for three and a half quarters and then almost gave the game away by playing it safe. Miss State was clearly better that night.
I don't think anyone is arguing this, but "blowout" specifically refers to score. You can't have a blowout if the game can be won by the other team on the last play of the game.
Alabama - A&M is a blow out
Moo State - LSU is an arse whoopin

do you play a full game or do you play for 54 minutes?
the fact is LSU had the ball and was one completion away from WINNING the game! it doesn't matter what happened before that point. msu could have had 800 yards to LSU's 10 yards, but if LSU completes that pass, LSU wins. and if you can win the game on the last play, it is in no way a blowout!
these are 60 minute games. msu won fair and square, but to call it a blowout is to be dishonest. LSU nearly pulled off one of the greatest comebacks of all time and most LSU peeps had left or turned the channel. Sad because you missed THE HEART OF A CHAMPION being shown for the first time! and had more of you watched til the end you'd wouldn't be calling it a blowout!

We got blown out for about 57 minutes. MSU has to play 60 minutes and not almost lose the game to get full blowout credit.

LSU scored 3 straight TDs to end the game and blew out MSU 19-0 in the last 14 minutes. They were one completion away from 4 unanswered TDs and a win. See I can warp shite the way I want too.
It wasn't a blowout
It wasn't a blowout

It was 31-10 in the 4th and 7 were from a defensive TD. We got dominated

Man, I'm one of the biggest LSU fans you'll ever meet and even I have to admit they beat us bad. It wasn't a blowout, you're right but they certainly dominated.
The final score wasn't indicative of how that game went.
We have improved though as the season has gone on so kudos to the coaching staff and the players for that.

It's true they dominated both lines of scrimmage.
It's true they put subs in fairly early.
It's true they dominated from an offensive statistic standpoint.
It's true that they did not blow us out because the only statistic that counts in football is the final score.
It's true that we were a single low percentage pass or ~ 20 seconds away from beating them. The game was very close, not a blowout.

and the last few minutes...
and when we closed the gap after half time...
and...
and...
They had a DOMINATING performance for MOST of the game. It was NOT a blow out.

The score is the only statistic that matters in football. We lost the game. It was not a blowout.

3/4's of the game was a blow out, but in the 4th LSU, for whatever the reason, made a comeback to within 5. I have never heard of a 5 pt. loss being seen as a team getting blowout for the game.
There is a difference between being blow out for part of the game and being blow out for the game, but each to our own.

LSU had the ball on the MSU 38 yard line down by only 5. yet LSU fans continue to live in make believe world where miss state blew us out.
Garbage time comebacks don't count. Sure we could have won that game at the end because Dan Mullen completely took his foot off the gas at the end, but that would not have meant that LSU was the better team. State's best vs LSU's best was a lot better that day. We only "came back" against 2nd and 3rd string players that were giving half effort.
shite, we probably wouldn't have even made a comeback against the 2nd string if not for a fluke snap by the backup center.

It is called garbage points to make the score look better. It isn't a blowout on the scoreboard, but anyone that watched the game knows that one team got dominated.

I was there. We were dominated.

We beat down Ole Miss and were a hail mary away from losing that. Also, we are much different now and so is Miss State. That would not happen again, but you can't argue that the end result was close despite the way it looked early on in the 4th. The 2 pt conversions killed us. Otherwise, we are 5 yards away from sending that bitch to overtime.

It wasn't a blowout on either the scoreboard or the stat sheet.
No one can deny that Mississippi State dominated for 3 full quarters. Likewise, no one can deny the fact that we dominated the scoring in the fourth quarter 19 to nothing.
If you want to see a game in which we came back in the fourth quarter from a 24 pt. Deficit to lose by five as being Dominated for the game, go ahead. I don't.

And we still lost... 3 unanswered TDs and still lost.
The game ended up being close... But the score board does not reflect how the game went. And that happens in sports all the time. Some games a team wins by 21+ points but it was a much closer game. And other games a team wins by 4 or 7 points, but the game was not nearly as close as it looked. And that's how the Miss St game went.
They damn near had 600yards of offense and ran for over 300yards on us. My til Harris came in, we had right over 200yards of total offense... And Harris came in with 3:43 left to play. So we had like 227yards total offense with 3:43 left to play in the game...
Sure we fought hard to the end and had some things go our way. And the score board says it wasn't a blowout.... But we got out shite kicked in and at home. Really bad. I can't remember the last time we were physically dominated the way we were vs Miss St up to that point. Maybe the 21-0 Natl Champ game. And then we were dominated by Auburn as well, but that was later in the year. Up to that point, the Miss St beat down was about as bad as it's ever been.
If saying it wasn't a blowout help you sleep at night, keep doing it. But we got our shite kicked in, IN Tiger Stadium.
