LOL...comical
Oklahoma St goes to the NC in 2011 and this comment is not even made....that's how thin of a line it is separating the two. What happens if everything we need to happen this year, does happen, and LSU plays its way into the playoff, and wins the damn thing. Let me guess, we will have fans saying we backed into it with 2 losses again....2 loss les.....lol

Actually, I think Saban is more literate than that.

Take the NCs out of it...
Do you really think Miles has had better teams, better recruits than Saban...?
I'm a huge Les Miles supporter, you can check my post history, but I believe Saban has proven to be a better coach at this point and I'm not sure how that can be argued...
In regards to your two loss NC comment, I've always thought that was a stupid argument that Negas brought up to unjustly tear down Miles' accomplishments...

Would not trade Les for Saban under any circumstances.
Agreed. He also displayed tendencies to lose the focus of his players, something that rarely if ever happens with Les. Everyone makes mistakes, but the Tigers had 3 absolutely bizarre losses in Saban's five years. UAB, Arky-'02 and of course, his last game, the Iowa debacle. All three of those were as bad as the '09 OM loss which is generally looked upon as the worst coaching job by Miles.

well that's the main argument for those that worship saban, the NC's.
Again, Saban has been in the SEC for 8 years now. If they don't win it this year, he has 2 SEC Championships during that time.
Les has been in the league for 10 years now, if they don't win it he has 2 SEC Championships.
Saban is ahead 4-3 in head-to-head regular season meetings, and hoping Miles can hold serve this year and even that up.
Saban has won a few more games than miles has over the last 8 years, but only a few, and if yo factor in the schedule differences, and also that bama has a top recruiting class virtually every year....I just don't see where you can clearly say he is better. Certainly, the media blows him, and that influences a lot of people. I just think there are a hell of a lot of good coaches out there that, given bama's talent over the last 8 years, could have strung together 2 SEC Championships. JMO.
Also, you said take the NC out....but LSU wins that one, then Miles has 2 while at LSU and Saban has 2 while at Bama......with both having 2 SEC Titles. THAT was a huge turning point....Alabama was clearly better than Ok St....but they didn't EARN it. OK St had beaten 6 or 7 top 20 teams.....and won their conference....anyway, beating a dead horse. They are both very good coaches. I'll take Miles any day of the week. Dookie can have Saban.

But could those coaches bring in the same kind of talent than Saban???
BTW I LOVE Miles but he has had some GREAT recruiting classes as well and only has ONE NC.

I agree that most fans were puzzled and disappointed in the outcome and the game plan or lack thereof. BUT, make no mistake, LSU got jobbed big time. And yes, if it is Okie State, then CLM is every bit as good as Saban. That game was a big reason for our current committee to ensure an affirmative action playoff with the broadest public appeal (read max income).
No way LSU should have had to beat 'Bama twice to be champion. In effect, the first game did not count against the gumps. Had the shoe been on the other foot, no way LSU gets a second shot. That NC was a gift to 'Bame pure and simple.

Miles is great but anyone that says they would take Miles over Saban is either a)lying or b) challenged in critical thinking. Saban will go down as one of, if not the greatest college football coach of all time.
Yes I know Miles is nice and Saban is mean, but all that matters is championships and that's a fact.

LSU has just as much to do with building his career as his career has to do with building LSU. He was a head coach for what, 15 years before he was hired here? With stints in the NFL? Can you honestly say he was anywhere close to a household name prior to 2000?
Nobody is proclaiming that Les Miles is the greatest coach of all time. The unwarranted disrespect the winningest coach in the SEC during his tenure gets from his own fan base and the national media is appaling. The weekend the SEC Network premiered, they were doing an overview of the SECw, and they went on and on about Saban's "process" for 5 minutes, then the segway to the LSU segment ...."...and then you have the grass eater....Les Miles"....really? I literally spit out my beer in laughter

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

quote:
Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by dramatic, emotional behavior, which is in the same category as antisocial and borderline personality disorders.
Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:
•Believing that you're better than others
•Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness
•Exaggerating your achievements or talents
•Expecting constant praise and admiration
•Believing that you're special and acting accordingly
•Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings
•Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans
•Taking advantage of others
•Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior
•Being jealous of others
•Believing that others are jealous of you
•Trouble keeping healthy relationships
•Setting unrealistic goals
•Being easily hurt and rejected
•Having a fragile self-esteem
•Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional
Although some features of narcissistic personality disorder may seem like having confidence or strong self-esteem, it's not the same. Narcissistic personality disorder crosses the border of healthy confidence and self-esteem into thinking so highly of yourself that you put yourself on a pedestal. In contrast, people who have healthy confidence and self-esteem don't value themselves more than they value others.
When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don't receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.
But underneath all this behavior often lies a fragile self-esteem. You have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have a sense of secret shame and humiliation. And in order to make yourself feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and efforts to belittle the other person to make yourself appear better

WHAT???
Anyway KENNY..... What I said is FACT and YOU can't dispute it... I guess LSU outplayed Bama on 1/9.. If you think so...well I can't help ya... Saban outcoached Miles in 2012 when LSU HAD that game but they let Bama come back and win.
Last year was way bad.. LSU stayed with Bama in the 1st half and then got DOMINATED. Was I pissed ?? YES... But its just true....

saban is a top 10 coach, nothing more, no "better" than Miles, Malzahn, Dantonio, Stoops, etc.
he didn't lose 50 IQ points when he left for Miami and then gain 100 when he went to bama. the difference now is his recruiting. it went from very good at LSU to 5 straight number 1 classes at bama, who was on the verge of the death penalty for paying recruits just 12 years ago. gosh what a coincidence.
he's also been accused of stealing signals by almost every SEC team. Ole Miss held up 6 different sign boards during their game to counter that.
and I don't mean "figuring them out", I mean stealing them. it's been said he recorded OU during their practice in the superdome before the '03 NCG, just like his mentor Belichick did to the Rams, and it's not hard to guess where he got them before playing LSU on 1.9. it would definitely explain the difference between the two games that year, and he's so obsessed with winning I have no doubt he would do whatever he could to prevent another loss to LSU.
his player development and game day prep is no better than other top 10 coaches. even with a very real talent advantage he's 0-3 vs the last 3 top 20 teams he's played.
