As a Christian I have plenty of fault with it. Committing suicide is not something you can repent beforehand. Once the deed is done you die in a state of mortal sin. There's no going back from that.

I must admit that I am very uncomfortable with Physician Assisted Suicide.

Becuase it becomes more of a medical decision. Should she have blown her head off? She didnt want to end her life suffering.

That's why this issue bothers me. Not that this girl or others choose to end their life but that their choice is described as "dignified." And this girl especially has brought out the comments of bravery. As though living through the pain to the end is cowardly. It just aggravates me. I don't care what people do. I'm not in their shoes. But, the associated adjectives are misappropriated.

Pretty sure it's her right not to give a frick what you think.

You gonna go and raise a stink at her funeral because her personal beliefs didn't gel with yours?

I don't want to be a burden on others, nor do I want to suffer. I've been clear with people, take me out back and put me down if I'm too far gone to do it on my own.

That's fine. But it's not dignified or brave.

Yeah that's probably not what he meant.

Show me where the priest touched you...

But should one be punished for wanting to not suffer?

I'm ok as long as it's limited to an advisory role.

I don't think anybody thinks that or has said that

Saying you have a right to die with dignity =/= as saying people who suffer don't have dignity. People make different choices. I'm willing to bet a lot more people would choose to end it if they could.

Pretty sure gumps are mostly baptists...

I don't have a problem with Christians. I have a problem with holier than thou types who think their theological beliefs somehow trump everyone else's right to their own set of morals.

That's your opinion. There are people who have their reasons to keep fighting to the end. And I have a great deal of respect for those that do just that.

The term absolutely implies it. Euphemisms in general annoy me but this one just really grinds my gears. She committed suicide rather than face an ugly and painful death. That is what happened.

Says who, you?

A couple things: who gives a frick and if I feel it's the right thing to do, why should I care what you or Christians think?

I grew up in catholic school and I'm so glad I haven't attended church since I was forced to as a kid. It's amazing for such God fearing people, many have no compassion or room for others beliefs.

Where did the Christian stuff come from? I said I don't care if people choose to kill themselves. Just call it what it is.
