Can Oregon shed the "soft" label with a win Saturday?

Oregon would have a victory over Michigan State and Stanford - two teams considered "physical" outside the SEC. If not, would it take a win in the playoffs against the SEC West winner?
I believe the perception won't be shed until we beat a quality SEC team even as unfair as that seems.

Stanford's defense is ranked #2 by S+P and #3 by FEI. Also, they play ground and pound offense. So, you are probably on of those that thinks the only physical teams are in the SEC.

Stanford sucks..
And the only way to shed that label would be to recruit bigger, stronger guys. It's no secret that stout defenses can really hurt Oregon's gameplan by blowing up the LOS. Get better there and Oregon will be better suited to play 60 minutes against a stout defense.

Not even beating the SEC West champ should it be a spread team. It would need to be Bama or LSU, teams with a bruiser reputation.

Beat an SEC West team.
That means a lot.

So, how big are our guys on offense?

Yeah. LSU, bama, auburn, or state.

Tell your qb to steal something
That should bring in some street cred

So we tell you exactly what you expect to hear, but then you dispute it?

This is the only year where I thought Oregon was actually soft.
Their title game against Auburn, proved they weren't soft.
But Mariota is really carrying this team with a soft D.
If they win out - they deserve a place in the top 4...but this isn't one of the better Oregon teams.
SEC deserves at least two teams in the playoff.

It goes beyond simply getting big guys. You have to get guys who can play tough and play physical.
Think about the current SEC and why it has the reputation it has.
Bama's 2012 OL mauled people.
Bama's 2011 defense was an all timer because of how physical it was. Same with LSU.
Think about all the physical backs to go through the SEC just recently. Lattimore, Richardson, Lacy, Gurley, Mason, etc.
You can't just get a big OL and shed the label. The big OL has to maul people. The big OL has to line up against big DLs and maul people.
And it goes the same for your defense. You can't just get bigger and suddenly expect to be tough and not soft. Gotta have guys with a mean streak. Guys who can take on the best OL and still push them around.
If Oregon played their style of offense, but with a mauling OL like Bama or LSU have had in recent years, no one would stop them.

Stanford sucks dick.
It's a shame how quickly Shaw killed that program.

If any NFL team stupidly offers him a job he should take it in a heartbeat. It'll be way easier to get another job when he fails there than if he keeps running down Stanford.

I am not saying we are going to shed the label of "soft" and go straight to physically dominant.
However, Oregon ran over MSU in the second half and it wasn't with scat backs. Likewise, our skill guys are much bigger than they were.
I do think the Defense is soft and it's not due to size.
