Which one should I get for basic usage and how much money are we talking here?

I wanna be able to video my deer hunts and take it fishing too.

I have one, I've never taken it out the box. Save your money and not buy one.

Anything beyond 20 yards, you won't be able to see shite hunting

I bought a knock-off Emerson brand one, just to see how much I would use it. Pretty decent for the money. Really thought I'd use it often. So far, maybe took it in the woods twice.

ETA: I'm not saying you won't enjoy/use yours, I just haven't

For fishing, the GoPro is excellent!

For hunting, especially deer, especially with a rifle, it is useless. If you're bow hunting you can change the FOV and it works decent but you're better off getting a $200-400 real camera for videoing hunts

Check out Tachyon. Considerably less expensive and better setups for mounts.

I will be getting the GoPro Hero 3 Silver soon. I am in the process of building a 6 propped drone to use for work and it will have the motorized gimbal for the gopro.

They are saying it doesn't have a good picture past 30ft or so cause it doesn't zoom. They actually do make zoom attachments. I have never played with one so I cant say how well that zoom works.

There are a bunch of videos out there just watch a few and see if you think they will be good for what you are needing. And don't forget they make small video cameras with zoom so you may want to go that way.

i am member of tOB GoPro Master Race, 79

and i can tell you without a doubt, getting into GoPro right now i would get 2 of the new hero's, some extra batteries and harness/mounts/etc and not looks back..

they are getting awesome reviews and even have a friend who got one that has used it everyday and he wished he has gotten two instead of the GPH4B

and GoPro is going to be on the cusp of ground breaking poacher/trespassing detection.. so thugs like B$b will be put in his place!

do you think you will enjoy editing videos? If not then you probably won't ever use it.

If you do think you will like cutting, editing, selecting background music etc. then you will probably get some use out of it.

I just ordered the new Sony camera. It should be coming in today.
I have a fishing trip lined up in November that I plan to try it out on. Also hope to hit the woods a time or 2 before then as well.

Just got a GP Hero 3 White last week as a bday gift. I look forward to filming some hunts and especially snow ski runs
