I was wrong about John Chavis

A few weeks ago I and a lot of others wanted to run him out of town. We were wrong. He has done a great job turning this defense around. He completely out schemed Freeze last night. I just want to acknowledge him and give credit where credit is due.

People think that calling plays, whether on offense or defense, uses the same formula all the time. I think Chavis has found out what this group is good at and what they can handle, in addition to the players really growing up.

LSU has been known for their defense for years since Chavis has been there.
Why in the hell would you or others want to run him out of town after a few sub-par games with a defense loaded with freshman and sophomores?

I'm glad he had the balls to keep attacking rather than sit in prevent

I need to know who took so long getting Bechwith in before any forgiveness. Weeks of struggling on D and then we finally put Beckwith in full time, poof we are great on D. He did seem to scheme well last night and 3rd and Chavis wasn't terrible. If the guys keep coming into their own, his D can work with elite players

I think our exterior defense has always been pretty top notch. Ole Miss tried to attack them and got shut down. I think we can expect the same against A&M. We'll find out a lot about our interior defense against Alabama. This will be important against Arkansas as well. I hope their progress is sincere.

you're probably not going to take this well, however, beckwith blew two coverages against AU that resulted in t.d's. Is he better than welter, yes, is he getting much better, yes.

The defense looked fantastic last night. All the credit in the world goes to Chavis and the players.

Last night was Beckwith's best game - by an order of magnitude.

I'm sure it appears that way to many of you, but it just isn't true. We were giving up big plays, huge QB runs and missing tackles with #31 on the sidelines - all year. The evolution from being almost good, to competent, to great has happened fairly slowly in SEC play. Auburn just caught us at exactly the right time.

Hate to be that guy, but calling for Chavis's head after Auburn is just dumb, sorry. Dude has been one of the best DCs in the country since he got here in 09

Some of us do realize that the Chief is one of the best in the game.
