Anyone ever heard of window tinting on a car causing problems with the tire pressure monitoring system? Wife has a 2013 hyandai sonata and dealership refuses to work on the car until the tint is removed.

Find a new dealership and contact the GM of the old one.

Absurd. Been to the shop 7 times for the same issue and all they can come up with is that it's the window tint.

What dealership?
Call Hyundai Customer Service Center and see what they have to say about it. FWIW weve had excellent service (just oil changes and routine maintenance) from Greg LeBlanc in Houma.

Read your warranty, they have the right.
They aren't saying they are related, obviously.

Pretty sure there was a lawsuit that ended up ruling they have to prove modifications had something to do with what broke
For example tint can in no way frick up tpms, so tpms is still covered

Do they have to work on modified vehicles if they feel they are a safety risk?
I ask because I went round and round with my Jeep and a catalytic conveter. Never touched the exhaust, engine, or intake. However everything else is modified.
They wouldn't even look at it because it was modified.

a lot of mods void parts or all of the warranty, and with their computer they can almost tell you how many times you've farted in the car, can't see the problem with tint and tire pressure though
ETA: if you've had a wheel(s) removed and replaced on the car and the tech didn't know how t reset it, that might be the problem, owners manual should tell you how to do it, it's easy, doen't require any mechanicing

Nothing in the warranty about tint voiding service.

certain mods void the warranty. I doubt window film is one of them.. Does the TPMS work with the windows down?
I would fault the TPMS receiver.

Keep in mind the dealership usually WANTS to do warranty work. They arent there to protect Hyundai they're there to bill Hyundai for whatever they can. However, some tasks don't pay very well and they may think it will take a long time to figure out. Try another dealership I'd say.

In July they replaced the whole system and all sensors. Get on the road this past weekend and the light comes on and it activates blue link saying there's something wrong with the monitoring system

Someone help me out here, but i'm pretty sure even if you modify it and void the warranty, if the modification can't cause the problem in question, you're still covered.
Like if I supercharge my truck and the door locks go out, still covered.
