re: Have we talked about the squib kick from our own 20 with 44 seconds left?

It's how you get to a hundred wins in less than 10 full seasons..trust that the horseshoe lodged in your anus hasn't lost its touch.
Seriously, it is amazing how many of these whacky scenarios have wound up going in Coach Miles' favor.

Les Miles refers to it as a "skidder".

Since I aint as smart as you, dam good thing I am a lot luckier than you are!!! I think Miles said the same thing to Stoops at midfield after the freakin game!!!

Squibs usually end up on the receiving team's 35 to 40 or so.
What the hell?
A squib is meant to go to the up backs, who are usually standing on the 10 or 15 yard line.
Heck, just go to youtube and watch how its done.

No worse than a fg attempt before half with 12 secs to go on 3rd down.
Zero confidence dude wouldn't take a sack.

Coaches have zero faith in either qb
But why should they? Kicking on third down with 12 seconds to go was the super safe play to get some points. This is a no risk, safe offense based on the Qb's abilities.
It is what it is..

Originally, Gamble came out to kickoff. He could've probably still put it in the endzone (after a 5 yard penalty against Wisconsin, he kicked it out the endzone). The coaching staff saw how Kentucky's coverage unit came out and had huge gaps b/w lines. They called a timeout and them put Domingue in to kick off. The execution was perfect. Kicked it where no one was. Squib kicks are usually kicked hard, right down the middle of the field to prevent a penalty from the ball going out of bounds

It was a BAD decision
Are you a fricking idiot? Number one, Kentucky's staff was completely caught off guard. Number two, the chances of a significant return into LSU territory is reduced. You have to be retarded to see that as a bad call.
Clowns who see decisions that are made by this staff which work perfectly as bad only points how far you are willing to go to find something to bitch like a pussy over.

I've been on this site long enough to know that if Rex thinks something is a bad idea then it's likely a great idea. Carry on.

Posted by theknightswhosay I think the idea was to prevent a decent return. Had one of the Kentucky players fallen on it, they probably would have just run out the clock. I doubt it was supposed to hit the field as early as it did though. It risked one of the more up-field players fielding it.
This. I cannot understand why everyone is acting like this is first squib kick they've ever seen. It wasn't planned to be quite so short, but just like plenty of teams do at the end of a half/game the whole point is to keep the ball out of their returner's hands. A team down a couple scores is MUCH more likely to try and bring it out of the endzone, and then anything can happen.

If the Kentucky players fielded it they would have needed about 10 yards for a field goal.
10 yards? no.
And, the intent wasn't for the ball to end up where it ended up. It just wasn't kicked hard enough and took a funny bound (which is why we ended up recovering it).
In other words, it was an ok decision that was executed poorly that turned out to work for us.

With the squib from the 20 there's a significant chance the ball never reaches the 50 to begin with.

I understand you're a moron.
One would expect a kickoff from the 20 to land about the 10 to 15... after a 20 or 25 yard return Kentucky's still on their side of the field.

You're either trolling or as dumb as people say you are.

Why would we do such a thing?
Eliminates the possibility of a big return. Shortens the game/half.

Everyone who agreed with Rex in this or any other thread on any topic should feel really bad about themselves.

It worked out, but god damn that was a terrible call.

Based on the way they lined up and where we kicked it, it was a good call. We did not expect to recover it, but they blew it in coverage and if the return man were to get it, he would have been mauled by 6 tigers within 3 yards. To give up some field with 44 seconds can be argued, but it's not like this is uncommon.
Rex bitches about everything though. Worst poster I've seen on here the last few weeks.
