Not to get too ahead of ourselves as we have a lot of season still to go this year, but I think it' safe to say that Hunter leaves along with Rasco, opening up both starting DE spots for next year. I think Godcheaux Godcheaux is pretty easily our biggest playmaker at DT right now, but his body his still tall and lean like a DE. I saw Herron on the sidelines last night and he appears to have the body of a bigger, run-stuffing DE.

Would it be better to move one of these guys who have actually played a bit to start at 1 side and let Patterson, Clark, and 58 battle for the other side? Bower is a nice player, but I don't think his frame will ever allow him to be more than a backup, spot-snaps player.

You've got to think that with Lacatoure (and almost certainly) QT coming back, that Gilmore, Bain, , LMFAO, and Valentine could either finally push for a starting spot or at least quality backup reps. But who's gonna play DE?

I came THIS close to starting this exact thread.

If (when) Hunter leaves, our DE's will be young & undersized - like our DT's this year. I, for one, would like to see either Herron or Godchaux as a SDE in the mold of Hill/Spears or even Lavar Edwards. Adding a little extra meat on the DL can only help our undersized LB's too.

Do it, Chavis

Here we go with the leave early predictions, When will it stop? Hunter has a hell of a lot to prove before he goes pro; he is actually very light for a typical NFL DE. Stay at LSU Danielle and enjoy the college life and LSU football.
Moving on, I hope that Herron moves to DE; that is what he was supposed to be. I do not understand how the coaches call him a beast , but he rarely steps on the field.

Herron could possibly move back. Neal, Bower, Clark, Teuhema are all getting experience this year and all have looked well in spots. I think Godchaux was targeted as a tackle all along

Lacatoure

Completely baffling. He is overwhelmed on almost every snap. He is a HUGE handicap. Ole Miss and Bama are going to abuse him.

Bower has one spot locked up, and I want the other spot to be occupied by Herron and Teuhema. I'd like Herron to be the starter, with Teuhema coming in on obvious passing downs like Mingo did in 2010, and just about all of 2011.

Of any of the DTs, the guy who can play inside and out is Lewis Neal.

Our dline is setting up nicely for next year regardless of whether Hunter leaves.

We have two very good DEs in Neal and Bower. Deondre Clark and Teuhuma have shown potential this year. I'd bet they'll be serviceable backups next year.

At DT we're loaded! Lacouture is playing very well for a second year guy. He should be coming into his own next year. Bain is starting to look good - also for a second year guy. Godchaux is going to be dominant next year. And we have Heron, Valentine, Gilmore, and LMFAO. If reports about Valentine are true, that gives us four reliable guys and three others in Heron, Gilmore and LMFAO. Dline will be a team strength next year.
