Has any band evolved over time like Rush?

I can't think of any other outfit that has experimented and changed their style over the decades like the Canuck Cream.

This should probably go into the "bands you think suck that other people love" thread... but I can't stand Rush.

HAVE they evolved? I confess to not being familiar with their entire catalog, but everything I"ve heard sounds pretty much like Rush. And I hate it.

Their music just seems to have no soul to me. Like a bunch of perfect automatons up there playing music.

I know that this will get me smashed by the Rush fans, because they're about as rabid as jamband fans, but I just can't abide it. I know it's technically awesome, but it just doesn't speak to me.

I'd argue that Tool underwent just as major of change as you can from Undertow to Lateralus (in the span of 7 years no less).

They went from hard alternative to nearly the pinnacle of progressive metal during that short span of time.

Ronnie James Dio. From late 50s doo wop to heavy metal.

I would say Boston has done the exact opposite and stayed EXACTLY the same.

Which I love.

2112 is quite simply one of the best albums ever made. That is a fact that cannot be disputed.
