Replace Les Bon Temps on Perkins..... All I be knowin
Edit: quick google search gave info from 225. A fella from IPO, Aaron Brown, and 2 fellas from Who's Who Lounge, Nathan Hossley & Terrel Jackson, Jr, are opening a creole food joint. "Shrimp and grits, ettouffee, etc and bar food."
Hmm.

Les Bon Temps on Perkins.
That lasted about a year. Not a huge surprise.

Spice Bistro & Bar replaces Le Bon Temps Bar & Grill on Perkins
Published Oct 2, 2014 at 10:22 am (Updated Oct 2, 2014)
Panache Plaza is getting a taste of Creole cooking, thanks to a new tenant. Spice Bistro & Bar will host its grand opening in the shopping center on Perkins Road Oct. 23 in the former location of Le Bon Temps Bar & Grill. The new restaurant will focus on Louisiana Creole food, serving dishes such as shrimp and grits, étouffées, lamb shank and bar food, all created by former Restaurant IPO chef Aaron Brown. The restaurant comes from the mind of owners Nathian Hossley and Terral Jackson Jr. The latter of the owners previously helped out at the now closed Who's Who? Lounge on Airline Highway. For more information on Spice Bistro & Bar, visit the restaurant's Facebook page —Matthew Sigur

The background image on their website shows many beer taps.
off to a really bad start if those are their beers. Hopefully that is just what was leftover from the previous place

That Who's Who place was nothing more than a relaxing martini bar where chain smokers would go to drink and chain smoke their nasty arse cigarettes. The place smelled worse than a casino.

Ate at Spice for lunch today. Had the Chicken and Waffles at the recommendation of my server. It was pretty tasty. But it was 2 drum sticks and a wing. I am used to having tenders. It was kind of messy, but good.
Menu looked pretty good. Shrimp and Grits sounded good and so did a few other menu items. I'll try it again.
Side note, I think I was the only person in there the entire time.

How do these new owners not realize how terrible of a location this is?

It is a HORRID location, and I don't know that I've ever seen such a lack of advertising in my life, outside of ethnic joints.
I saw the changed sign before I saw anything on social media, and the tiny bit I've seen online has given very little info.
With the money that goes into opening a new restaurant and how much is at stake, it baffles me that some places don't even bother getting their name out. Hype your place up! Even if you can't afford some marketing guru to come in and promote for you, self promote as much as you can.
ETA: The linked website doesn't work, and their FB page is gone.
What is the deal here?

I've never heard of it, just saw the sign up the other day when passing by. Decided to give it a shot.
I didn't go into the restaurant that was previously in it's location, so I don't know if they spent a lot of money remodeling it, but there was a lot of money spent at some point. It has a really nice bar and even a side room for parties that looked really nice.
I was handed a flyer advertising 10% off if you order online @spicebistroandbar.com or order thru their app.

Their twitter is working as is the app. Seems like they aren't void of social media presence.

The frick?
I went to Le Bon Temps Grill once with the wife, it was just a really weird atmosphere, and it was dead, although to be fair we were there for a late lunch on a Saturday. The food was alright but not worth going back for, and it seems everyone else had about the same opinion.
That location just seems really weird for the vibe the interior gave off. Like they were trying to squeeze in a fancy modern chic restaurant when what it really needs is a neighborhood bar & grill sort of joint.

Have only been once as well. Had some sort of "networking" event going on the the side room/club. The place has a lot of potential, the courtyard area was sparse and could have been vastly improved.
I don't get the hate on the location, it is in the back corner of a strip mall, but in a great part of the city.

"Weird" is the best way to describe it. The interior is really attractive... The food was only okay... But the location is really random. And most people had no idea the first place existed, and definitely have no idea this new one does, so they're empty.
The menu/photos/vibe of the place actually reminds me of Portico for some reason.

I just don't think the vibe and location matched up well.
Rotolo's fits that location, something like Sammy's would fit that location.

The inside is very posh and gives off a club/lounge vibe. Would probably be better downtown on 3rd street.
Not by a ymca, produce stand, and a nursery. Getting in and around that area around lunch time can be a nightmare

This is what I was just about to say. The vibe of this place is more "hip".. would be better in an area that makes hopping to other spots easy.
Even Olive or Twist didn't seem to be doing that great before Rum House opened and really saved it. The area isn't "bad" or anything; it just is kinda out on its own.
I think a certain type of place could make it there. I just don't know that these places are it. Maybe with some good marketing and stuff, my opinion would change.
I've seen Spice on 225 Deals and WAFB Deals and they are brand new. LBT was always on it too. I know they occasionally have good places, but when a brand new place is on there, it is a red flag.
