Student Kaytlin Shelton took a photo of the skimpy lunch and showed it to her parents.

Shelton is pregnant and eating for two, complicating the problem.
quote:
“Schools are responsible for children while they’re at school,” the student’s father says.
“They’re responsible for feeding the children.”
WTF.

Well, to be fair it is indeed the responsibility of the school to make sure the kids get enough to eat while they're AT school. I know my 4 damn near eat 1100 cal PER MEAL, much less all day. And no, they aren't fat. Just very active.

How dare you question Michele Obama. She knows what's best for us.

Can't we just look at the pic and laugh and liberal legislation?

Shelton's father's response probably explains why she's knocked up--just let the schools be babysitters.

Do you know what it means to quote something?

Sometimes we gotta just bite the bullet and do the work, Tuba. Not everything can be handed to you on a silver platter.

Nor does it show the glass of milk that's required.
If you want your kids to eat more, there's a solution. Give them more. Send them to school with a sandwich or apple or Twinkie.
This isn't rocket science.

What about the poor people who can't afford a sandwich, apple, or Twinkie and rely solely on the schools to feed their kids lunch?

Doesn't look anything like the lunches at my kids' schools. Appears that particular school may be trying to cut some corners.

There's a kcal limit per meal of 850. That's obviously going to put a pretty strict upper limit on portions.
