Why would you even want to join them ? They're basically mall cops with lower pay then the other LE agencies. Only plus side is that their job isn't stressful? Id rather do BRPD.

frick LSUPD

I had two run-ins with them while I was enrolled. Both a pair of dumb arse bastards with a badge and a gun on a power trip.

They are higher than a Mall Cop but lower than a Sheriff.

Mall cops aren't allowed to use guns and tasers like LSUPD does iirc.

State commission and benefits Very well funded.

I'd rather deal with crack heads though than frat stats and daddy's little princesses

I imagine game days are pretty stressful. Plus LSU is surrounded by ghetto so you have that element creeping in every once in a while.

I had a friend that went from Deputy Sheriff to LSUPD to LAST.

State Troopers don't have rookie classes every year; probably every 3 years. He had to do something. I guess it may have helped him on his ST application.

Probably because they are cowards who don't want to have to do real policing in areas like North BR.

Not necessarily, and they're POST certified and have the powers of arrest just like any other PD. They get paid a lot more than many of the local municipalities and sheriffs' offices. Some join them to get LE experience so they can continue their careers at other agencies, and some have retired from the military or other LE agencies and choose to continue to work in their chosen profession.

maybe they are using it as a stepping stone to state police, or something similar
