The Official Sitar/Eastern-Inspired Music Thread

Been meaning to start this thread for a while after a recent trip to India in July. It really triggered an interest into this music. Especially Ravi Shankar, who is a legend all over India. I bought his CD "live in london" at a small shop in Varanasi and I was hooked after that. Live in New York is also pretty spectacular
and yea he kindof inspired that guy, george harrison too
Ravi Shankar - Chants of India
Ravi Shankar - Live in London1964
Ravi - Concert For George (2003)
Ravi on the Dick Cavett Show
Like most great sitar artists, Ravi didn't really come out with albums. He rarely if ever set foot into a studio. Like Louis Armstrong, he was the ambassador for his genre of music to the rest of the world. Many great sitar players have followed thenceforth like:
Shahid Parvez
Shahid Parvez - Raga Bhimpalasi
Shahid Parvez - Dover Lane (2009)
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan (sitar) and Ustad Zakir Hussain (tabla). super heady brah jamz
For some older stuff, Vilyat Khan, is really responsible for spreading sitar music to western culture. In 1951, he was the fist to play in England after Indian independence.
Vilayat Khan - Raga Yaman
Vilayat Khan - Raga Darbari Kanada
The music eventually spread its influence into British rock culture in the 60s. Like:
The Kinks - See My Friends
The Beatles - Norwegian Wood
more recently:
Ott - Splitting an Atom
Thievery Corporation - Indra
Thievery Corporation - Mandala
Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries
Shulman - The Unexpected Visitor
Shulman - In Search of A Meaningful Moment
Ott - Smoked Glass and Chrome
Adham Shaikh - Kundalini Fuel
and one of my personal favorites - Bonobo - Terrapin
Any other Sitar or eastern inspired music is welcomed. Looking to expand my small collection.

Ravi Shankar- Live at Monterey Pop Festival
This festival was huge for the american beat movement and the summer of love. First time major appearances for ravi and even jimi hendrix to play in the states..
i really love when artists can incorporate this genre into their music, even if the two completely contrast.. just an example
No Doubt- Hey You
Papadosio- Find Your Cloud
Simon & Garfunkel- El Condor Pasa
^ definate use of indian folk instruments..flute?
