I normally wait until I can plop $2000 into a stock to lessen the commission hit.
I also have to sometimes tell myself that adding the commission to the stock price will likely be so insignificant 20+ years from now so I shouldn't even worry about it.

I don't know what the rest of you are seeing. I'm not going through the last five pages of what I figure as youthful optimism to form my opinion.
Oil isn't going back up to the price it was a year ago in the next year. Barring a sudden dropping of Barack's testicles and a war with Iran, oil probably doesn't get back up to $70 within the next year, more likely through the next six months.
If you're playing the long game of 15-20+ years, go for it. Now is the time to buy. If you're looking for an investment you can cash out in five years, find something better. If you can.
