Really? He had 6 tackles, 1.5 TFL and 1 sack. Lacouture played well.

Don't mean to keep harping on this, but Lacouture had his best game of the year against Auburn. He was our 4th leading tackler in the game (Hunter, Mills, and Adams had more) as a DT (that's pretty good).

In general, our defense seems out of position a lot. IMO this comes from players thinking they need to make every play themselves, rather than playing their proscribed roles. How much of this is Lacouture's fault? We can't tell. Hard to know.

this is what kills me about some people. You can't just look at raw statistics to determine if someone plays well. You have to actually watch the game to see how those tackles were made and whether he's a disruptive force.

I challenge you to show me where Lacouture was consistently disruptive against Auburn.

No. He didn't. When and where were those tackles made? Hint, not the first half. And how many did he miss? How many plays was he completely run out of his lane by a single blocker?

I rewatched the game. You clearly just looked at a stat line. And that stat line does not in any way reflect how he actually played on a down by down basis.

Auburn had 600 yards and 40 points and basically tried to run out the clock for the final 20 minutes of the game. I can assure you no one on that DL "played well".

The one sack was on a play at the end of the 2nd quarter when we rushed 7 and he was the 4th player to touch the QB who was spinning around in place. Even then he got to the QB the same time as Beckwith. Does this count as a TFL and a tackle as well?

It is ironic how you later talk about stats not being important as sometime players run out of position in search of the numbers. Right after you recite numbers to show us how "disruptive" a player was.

I actually agree with you on the later point. On the one sack play he stayed in his lane and controlled the corner so he did his job. But the sack was not an indication of how well he played.
