Its not the game plan, its young guys at important spots. But there is no hope for this defense, we would have lost either way.

You lost me there, must have slept through last season when we lead the NCAA in 3rd down conversions.

Ok, you crazy. Name the three, please....gators? Wildcats? aTm? Hogs?
We win any of those, I wouldn't be surprised, but we have to do a lot of improving if are going to win any more games!

Also gotta remember that because we converted ZERO third downs, we didn't run a ton of plays to get that deep into our playbook (not like I'm expecting there to be a "secret playbook or anything, if there is we've been waiting for it since the week of the '09 Florida Game)

When we don't have a ton of plays and Harris isn't making the throws it shrinks down what you can do. When your QB gets into a rhythm then you can give him more plays to run.

Just a consideration, I think no matter what there's no excuse for only have 3 passes thrown by the 2nd qtr when we're down 24-7, but if we wanna see more out of the playbook the offense has to stay on the field. Cam showed last year that there are a few wrinkles he's added that weren't there previously under Miles (just where the hell is D. Smith or the TE passing game a la pitta or Antonio gates?!?)

I wish more fans did. Instead they say we ran toss dive the entire game. Which is 100% false. We were pretty even on pass v run. 24 attempts. That's just attempts, not called.

defense has some breakdowns in assignments sure but they have been on field more than usual against MSU and Auburn. Also those are the best two spread offenses with best two dual threats QB's in the SEC. Lets tap the brakes

This game reminded me of 2 prior games - the 2004 Georgia game and the 1999 Auburn game. I thought of the 2004 Auburn game because of how we kept getting torched on long touchdowns despite good coverage. Honestly, short of flagrant pass interference, I don't know what Robinson could have done to stop the first TD pass. The game reminded me of the 99 Auburn game in how Harris tended to melt down, although not as much, like Rohan. We are going to be fine. We need to hang tough and focus on one play at a time, execute, and giving maximum effort. No coach is going to get fired after 2 games nor should he be.

For those who care to read the ESPN article from the 2004 Georgia game, here it is. LINK

Even defending national teams with the best coach in football can have games like this.

did not understand why they kept running it up the middle down 24-7, 31-7 etc

The defense gave up big plays early and often. The thing that killed us were missed tackles and not getting off of blocks. The d line has no push whatsoever, the linebackers missed plenty of tackles that should have been at the line of scrimmage or short gains but instead went for more yards. Out dbs had good coverage for the most part but auburns bigger bodied receivers just made great plays.

Down 24-7 in the second your one score away from being back in the game. If you come out calling plays like its the fourth quarter opposed to the second then you run the risk of making the gap larger.

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment of the D.

I agree they should have tried throwing the ball more especially on some of those third downs or try some option plays just something besides up the middle. The thing that killed the play calling was harris being way way off and rattled early on in the game which affected the play calling significantly. The protection and o line did play better but not where they need to be by any means.

The biggest difference besides Mettenberger at Qb is the fact we actually threw across the middle of the field. I know what Miles/Cam are doing by eliminating these throws (trying to protect the young qb) but there is no way this offense can succeed without trying to attack the middle of the field.

people here think that being pointed at the tv while the game is on is the same thing as watching it. if you want any hope of knowing what we actually do and understanding why, you cant just watch it once while you have an emotional investment.

Had to tough to rewatch. Sometimes crap happens and when a weaker team plays against a good team and stinks it up, the game gets out of hand. Amazingly no turnovers, few penalties, and the special teams were ok.

In some ways it makes the final score look even worse.
