Miles may be a crappy coach in plenty of areas, but if we're going to acknowledge that, we also need to acknowledge that recruiting and conditioning is also part of that thing called "coaching".
We know he's a lousy game day coach. That is unquestionable.
If we're to be totally honest, though, the fact that he has the kind of overall winning percentage that he does means that (thankfully) there are other components of coaching.
The real question everyone is dancing around here is "Has Miles finally run his course?"
It happens. He may have.
Let's revisit when the season is over.

We win, but this stat shows we often win ugly, ultimately because of superior conditioning coupled with talent.
No surprise that your dumbass would start a thread that contains this sentence.

Moffit is the conditioning coach.
And if you want to state your argument, then it's Miles' fault and his alone the team is "young" and inexperienced.
Part of recruiting is recruiting ON A SCHEDULE.

The funny thing is that people like a want say those things as if they are cold hard facts.

Please explain the hilarity.
If you remove coaching from the equation, how many games should a team win when that team is more talented than 90% of the teams it plays?

So you're saying we know how to finish games?

Yes. Maybe not this year b/c of youth, but generally speaking yes.
On average over the last 10 years we have been more talented than:
Arkansas
Miss State
Ole Miss
A&M
Auburn
From the East:
Everybody but maybe Georgia and Florida: they're comparable.
Plus the 2 or 3 rent-a-win/non conference teams.
Alabama is the only one who has been more talented consistently than us.

Sometimes we do. Sometimes we let inferior teams finish us. Sometimes, because of incompetent clock management we can't. Sometimes we need help from Dooley because he can't count. Sometimes an 0'for SEC Arky team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory because of a lucky play. Sometimes shite happens, but there is a definite pattern and practice with miles coached teams, which is frustrating.

No, I'm saying LSU is behind far too often in the 4th quarter to teams it should be beating.
Now you can say a win is a win, but sloppy play is sloppy play even when you win. Coming back and beating ULM in the 4th quarter is not something to celebrate. Teams who have to come back against ULM are NOT going to beat teams that actually DO have more talent.

what is LSUs record against those teams over the last 10 years?

When half the teams we play are teams like Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, ULL, ULM, Towson, Furman, Tulane, Troy, North Texas, Sam Houston State, New Mexico State, McNeese State, UAB, Fresno State, Appalacian State, Northwestern State, Western Kentucky, Idaho, Kent State, second rate OOC teams and SEC bottom feeders... I'd say yeah. For a program the caliber of LSU to only be leading or tied 63% in the 4th is not great.
We play over half of our games in conference and almost every year we play at least one quality opponent out of conference.
Wisconsin this year
Sometimes we play more than one quality opponent out of conference. In 2011 we played West Virginia and Oregon

What on God's green Earth are you talking about? When were we down to ULM in the 4th? You just making up stuff?

I was curious, so I crunched the stats.
I only included ranked OOC games and all SEC games to throw out cupcakes.
LSU has trailed 63% of the time in the 4th qtr against ranked OOC opponents and all SEC opponents combined.
For comparison, Bama has trailed only 27% of the time in the 4th qtr against ranked OOC opponents and all SEC opponents. This includes Bama's terrible 07 season.
LSU has been an outlier statistically in the W column based on these stats.

That's like saying, we only win because of our ability to play defense. Who cares it's part of the game
