In the Miles Era

124 total games
46 games trailing in the 4th.

37%

We win, but this stat shows we often win ugly, ultimately because of superior conditioning coupled with talent.

(Below credited to lsusteltz16)

LSU has trailed 63% of the time in the 4th qtr against ranked OOC opponents and all SEC opponents combined

compared to:
BAMA with Saban at 27%
UGA from 05-present is at 47%.
UF under Meyer was at 31%.

Conclusion: we are about 200% more likely to play down to our opponents relative to similar programs.

Is that called not preparing your players with a solid game plan or what?

I've tried having the argument that the "4th quarter comeback" record may not necessarily be as good of a thing as it is portrayed to be. We have been down in the 4th quarter to inferior teams. Our style of play has also arguably cost us bowl games (the bowl record used to be a record that the miles fans bragged about).

ok. should we never be behind against inferior teams?

we've been up in the 4th quarter to inferior teams
we've been up in the 4th quarter to superior teams
we've been down in the 4th quarter to superior teams.

looks like we've been up alot more than down.

What does that even mean, "win ugly"?

You mean like:

Wasn't that 2007 game against Florida considered one of the greatest and most exciting games in Tiger Stadium? (I've always liked that shot of Spikes' hand grabbing Hester's facemask)

What's ugly about winning a comeback in the 4th quarter?

Up or tied 63% of the time.
See I can make numbers look good.

These guys are just making thread after thread of anti Miles negative bullshite.

Glad I don't have these guys watching my back in a fire fight, they would probably shoot me then themselves...

That stats shows that we play in a tough conference and based on his 99 wins at LSU his teams more likely than not win.

When half the teams we play are teams like Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, ULL, ULM, Towson, Furman, Tulane, Troy, North Texas, Sam Houston State, New Mexico State, McNeese State, UAB, Fresno State, Appalacian State, Northwestern State, Western Kentucky, Idaho, Kent State, second rate OOC teams and SEC bottom feeders...

I'd say yeah. For a program the caliber of LSU to only be leading or tied 63% in the 4th is not great.

If you have better talent than 90% of the teams you play, a mediocre coach would be ahead in the 4th quarter 90% of the time, and win 90% of his games.
