What physical/emotional harm does the name Redskins do? Do people really have enough time in the day to be worried/concerned about such stupidity?

It does no physical harm. But that doesn't change the fact it is a racist derogatory term in nature. It isn't a big deal though. I have no problem with people saying they don't like the name and expressing their feelings. That is America man. But I have a huge problem if the govt tries to force them. And I think 99% are fake outraged

See that's fine......but it's assinine to go around changing things everytime a handful of folks are offended.
Ever put on an event for more than 5-10 people? If so you probably realize it's impossible to pacify everyone.

I agree completely. I just think people hurt their argument and look silly when they say look at the Chiefs, Indians , Seminoles etc. It shows they are flustered and willingly trying to be obtuse.

But you are being obtuse if you don't realize Redskin is a racist term and Chief is not.

Um the Chiefs nickname came from the old KC Mayor. His nickname was CHIEF. He was one of the reasons the Chiefs moved to KC.

The word "redskin" was not racist. People all of a sudden call it racist because it 'sounds' racist.

It's like the word "black". All of a sudden, that became less politically correct and the new term is "African-American".

Black was never a racist term, but African-American is the PC term because "black" 'sounds' racist due to pointing out skin color.

This is completely incorrect. Unless you feel the same way about the n word. They both started as neutral terms, and then not so much

It's not incorrect. I have a dictionary from the 1980's that simply describes "redskin" as an American Indian. All other slurs are characterized as such.

no you don't. The term was removed from any normal usage before the 60s because it was considered vulgar and offensive by then. But regardless, that is irrelevant. The n word can still be found in British print as well

The n-word was used as a slur. Redskin isn't just like black isn't used as a slur. Both are just terms relating to skin color. But they aren't racist slurs.

Lol. The origins may not have been racist, but it became pretty racist

How can you be this wrong? The n word also started out complely neutral to describe a person. Somewhere along the way it became offensive to the people being called it, same as redskin.

Oh look, redskin isn't a slur. Other slurs are characterized as such.
