Their fans have really, really taken a shitty turn after that game.

They should've just celebrated the once-in-a-couple-decades win & moved on. But jumping on Day's grenade over & over & over is pretty delusional and kind of short-sighted. It's not like anyone's claiming that Day's actions are the reason MSU won the game.

Just like he was innocent last year when he was suspended. It was interesting that they had so many cameras running from all angles and over head, that they could show in slow motion his intent. Their AD, Sticklin, moaning and defending his behavior is really cow pie class.

Anyone who thinks you can truly choose to believe something, is an absolute mental midget.

I do agree that MSU really missed out on a great chance at some good publicity last week.

They have a good team...they upset LSU to stay unbeaten...and have a dynamic QB. THAT should be what everyone is talking about in reference to this team.

This would have been a good chance for Dan Mullen to come out and say "we recognize that Dillon Day used poor judgment in the LSU game and we accept his penalty". That would have been classy and would have gained them even more respect.

Instead, they are getting more attention for looking like fools by defending the behavior of this jackass. What he did was wrong and this should be obvious to anyone not named Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles. Their people should have taken the high road on this, but they chose not to. Their loss.

Dan Mullen wouldn't know what classy was unless in kicked him in the balls at the same time pressing the detonate button on a nuke at the 50yd line in the middle of State's football stadium...

just sayin'

He might be right. They call it Foreplay for a reason, you know.

You can choose to not believe it, but it'll just make you a bigger mental midget... or a smaller one... however that works.

Dude, you are right on. That shite was so unequivocally obvious, the SEC had no choice but to suspend him, it was criminal. Choosing to disagree with the decision is PR suicide.

I agree that Day very deliberately stomped on the LSU players. It was, as you say, so obvious that the SEC had no choice but to suspend him.

But I don't think him admitting it would've made much difference... he might've ended up being suspended for longer if he admitted it. And if Day curbs the cheapshots for the remainder of this year (at a minimum), any potential PR damage will be non-existent for Mullen or Miss. St.

Worst case for them, if Day can't control himself and gets caught doing similar dirty tactics, there will be a stronger push for him to be punished longer and they might be forced to say something like, "Gosh, we really believed him when he said he didn't do it deliberately last time. We value how our young men develop as leaders and men as well as how they develop as players. We would never condone players acting in ways that compromises the safety of other players and reflects negatively on their character or on the character of our team, etc..." Then it will blow over.

I don't consider myself cynical, but I just don't see any huge backlash coming out of the Miss. St. administration giving Day the benefit of the doubt as a matter of convenience.

what sort of can of worms does this open? How many more Monday morning suspensions are we going to see handed out? I’ve seen a lot of similar ideas expressed on facebook and twitter. I saw one comment that suggested that Slive could save a whole lot of money by not having referees official the games. He could simply review all the tape on Monday morning and impose penalties as he saw fit.

Sounds like a great idea! I think the entire Moo State crowd should all wear something in honor of Dillon. I suggest:

To be fair the majority of the comments list below that writeup acknowledged it was intentional and that is a Day is a slimey POS.

They are only acting like this because they have Texas A&M up next. That backup they have, scares the shite out them lol

I've seen some justify what he did, paraphrasing that "LSU injures our players, but time we beat them, everybody is against us". They aren't even trying to be reasonable anymore.
