Are you serious? I don't care where you live in nola, you have to lock your doors. You do know thieves have cars and feet that carry them anywhere they want to go, right?

What do you expect a parent to do?
No parent could imagine their kid committing such a heinous crime.
Stop mocking her grief. She probably feels horrible for the drivers family and horrible that she may have failed as parent.

Nope.
She was probably out partying her arse off and being a whore when her kid needed a mom. And I doubt she will spend much time in grieving this situation.
But I agree they do get a little stupid about here with the "he's a good boy" stuff.

she does sound very apologetic, moreso than the other thug's mother. If she's right, than her spawn should do the only possible good thing in his power and roll over on the other piece of shite

I would hope so.
This is so sad. That article was depressing. What could bring 2 young people with so much potential to such a dark and heinous place? Why dont these kids value their lives?
Like how stupid could they be? They were pretty much asking to get caught. It pains me to see young people go down this road. Clearly the parents could have done better, clearly the Justice department could have apprehended those kids the minute they stepped out of their restricted zones, etc.
What can we do? This ends up effecting EVERYONE. A 50 year old woman now lives her life in fear and has had her dignity taken from her. A family and a community grieves the lives of a good NOLA servant. 3 young lives are seemingly lost forever for horrendous decision makings.
We can blame a multitude of things, but how can we fix this so that we can all prosper? I mean more police patrols, more gated communities really doesn't do anything but stop the bleeding. Trouble will find trouble as long as it's not monitored. It'll trickle into our communities as well.
I hope we as a community can do some serious soul searching because this is one of worst crimes I've heard of in a while. So much was lost here, for sheer stupidity and reckless on the part of these dumb kids, bad parents, and bad Justice system.
