We used to be an avid watcher. It got tiresome. We may eventually watch them.

I actually watched last night for the first time in a long time. Damn.
Apparently he's got a writing and directing career. Wrote Horrible Bosses and is directing the new Vacation movie.

yeah, was reading that this morning. Still a shocker for a first episode.
hoping he does as good a job on Vacation as he's done on Horrible Bosses.

I did not know this.

I thought it was crazy to introduce the fact that he has a kid on the way, only to kill him off. Seemed a little overdramatic to me. But I do hate to see him go. I liked his character.

yeah, I sat there in disbelief. even watched the previews for next week (which I NEVER do) just to be sure.
I guess they didn't want to have him on again off again all season.
Hoping they bring back Zack now.

I just love it for Hodgens that there is finally a real conspiracy. He went from whackjob to expert status in about two episodes.

I read an interview with the writers. They knew he would be missing a lot in the near future so they wanted to give his character real closure. They didn't want him popping in and out in a corny cameo kind of way. I liked it even though I liked the character. It shakes up the status quo.

But I still don't understand why they went through the trouble of laying out the storyline of him expecting a child, only to kill him off in the same episode. I guess they were just trying to amp up the emotional tug of his death.
And I would love if they brought back Zach. I wonder what the reason was that they had to write off his character.

Moreso to give what's her name.. Daisy, I think?... something to make her interesting in the future, maybe?

Because Daisy is pregnant in real life is the reason they gave him that. Now they rally around Daisy, who they couldn't really stand before, and help raise the kid, bringing them into the family.
Zack was written off during the writers strike. They had to think of something quick for the whole Gormagon thing. I think Sweets was supposed to be the apprentice, but since that season was cut so short, they had to spice it up. That's what I think anyway.

Working with john now and he's doing a great job. Very cool guy and easy to work with

He'll still always be Sam Weir to me.
I haven't watched Bones in awhile but read about the death. I guess I'm going to have to start watching again maybe.

Reminds me of when HOUSE callously killed off Kutner. I hate when light-hearted guilty pleasures get all dark and soap opera-ish.

Well, to be fair, Bones has killed off a number of characters (as well as putting plenty in peril).
