Why can't LSU run a screen?

Over the past 10 years, I can count on one hand how many screens we have run successfully. It amazes me that such a simple, effective play can't be run with the amount of talent we have coming out of the backfield.

our OL has been the biggest disappointment so far this season

are you only talking RB screens? because we were once pretty good at WR screens (yes even during Les' tenure), and now we suck at em.

What type of screen are you referring to?

under jimbo, we ran those sexy slip screens inside the 10

this year i'm assuming RB screens, b/c i don't know if i've noticed that many WR screens
and we're not running a high effective rate on HB screens

You only get better at things you practice everyday. I'm sure the screen game is not a staple play in the Les Miles school of coaching.

I'm referring to RB screens. I see bama (not bamacessed) run screens several time a game with huge success. Ours looks like a derp fest

we looked better this past game. looks like we're still working on it. we had one that would have been a big gainer had one block been made. our blockers were all concentrating downfield and completely missed the eventual tackler. the only MSU player within 10 yards of our ball carrier and three guys missed him.
imo, we just need to keep working on it in practice and games until the players learn how to execute it.

I'm wondering where our quick slants disappeared to as well.

The flanker screens I've seen this year haven't been very successful, but it's a safe throw and we keep doing it.

Crowton kept the slip in 07, then kinda went away from it. that was his MO with most things.
there was this sweet RB screen he ran a couple times with Keiland almost lined up as a wingback, with 2-3 WRs in front of him. easy pickings. never seen again.

Love to get someones point of view that played or coached the oline but what i saw saturday was on 2 different occasions one of our lead blockers could have peeled off and blocked the defender who made the tackle.
My question is...is that how it is taught? To ignore the nearest defender and make it the job of the rb to miss getting tackled? I think that is wrong and the purpose is to get the runner into open space...linemen should peel back instead of running downfield with no one to block.

If we do actually catch the ball, our blockers never block anybody. 3 or 4 blockers alway seem to let the first guy up make the tackle.

Used to love the bubble screen we ran with Josh Reed.

we ran one slow-developing screen to Fournette and MSU's backup MLB snuffed it out and flew and got him. dude looked like Bizarro Welter.

Because Elmer Fudd doesn't have the want to.
