Freezing Steaks

Had a killer deal on bone in ribeyes this week at the local grocery store. Purchased some and now need to freeze 4 of them.
What is the best way to freeze these bad boys? No access to a food saver machine.
TIA

Since you don't have a foodsaver, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and make sure there are no air pockets. I would wrap them twice. Then, put them in ziplock bags and try to suck all of the air out of those. You can use a straw.

I know this is not helpful, but I have never enjoyed a steak after it was frozen. And I've tried vacu-sealing. It is just one thing I buy fresh. I was tempted a few times with good deals but in the end it just wasn't worth it. If I were you I'd eat ribeyes everyday this week. I could think of worse things.

It's like $4. Not as good as a high quality one obviously, but I have used these for years to freeze steaks. They will last 6+ months easily.

quote:Picking up a food saver machine was one of the best investments I've ever made, and it's paid for itself over and over again, from freezing anything raw, to cooking sous vide and stocking my freezer with ready to eat meals which were all purchased on sale, to resealing a bag of chips, pretzels, peanuts and anything else which will go stale in LA humidity shortly after opening. Not only does my food keep longer, but as I've mentioned, the dollars you save each time you purchase something in bulk on sale will easily offset the $130 or so for a decent unit.
No access to a food saver machine.
