You speak of Lafayette like someone who has never left there, and I'm willing to bet you never have. And I love how you spell LSUAM. Your penis envy really shines through and I love it.
Actually i have lived out of state, but once married, we didn't want to raise our family anywhere else BUT Lafayette. I also travel all across this state weekly for work. You're right. My correction. Its LSU A&M. The penis envy comment. Something you just came up with or have you heard it so much that its engrained into your head. Its not penis envy on my part. Its way more castration anxiety on your part.

The difference is that's the shittiest part of Lafayette whereas almost all of opelousas looks like that It just sucks because out-of-towners pass through that part and think it's representative of the whole city.
That's exactly how you guys describe Monroe because you drive up Hwy 165, get off on Desiard and go straight to the stadium. On November 15 if you want a tour ill be glad to drive you around some absolutely beautiful parts of Louisiana , all in Monroe

Okay, so you don't have much of a choice.
My point is that the nicer parts of Laffy are not near the interstate.

Fleux..i'm heading up there in a few weeks. I'll be up there for a couple of days. Where should i eat beside the Cracker Barrel in W. Monroe and where are some nice areas to check out. Any bars, etc.?

Honestly I've only ever been to Monroe once, and it was 10 years ago, I don't remember it being that bad. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/shrug.gif)

What days will you be there?? Cotton is an amazing restaurant on the river that chef Cory bahr runs, he actually won Chopped on the Food Network.. Lotta bars and casual joints..... Let me know what you're looking for

Will probably be there in early October. I'll check out Cotton. Looking for laid back bars to drink a few beers, maybe get a bite to eat. Nothing fancy really suits me best. I've found that dives actually sometimes have great food.
I"m not too picky.

Enoch's is an irish pub that has probably the best burgers in town. The Pickle barrel is a great deli with 50 different sandwiches and at least that many different beers. The Mohawk Tavern has great oysters and old school seafood . If you want to try something different go to Jeff's Place. Its a friend of mine, he smokes his own salt, does stuff like fried smoked boloney sandwiches for lunch specials, has a great brunch and jazz on thursday night......we were there for the Idaho game and he was serving fried eggs inside of a sour cream doughnut, crazy unique stuff

None actually. As mentioned, the shittiest part of the city is right along i-10

honest question, what is the deal with the blighted, abandoned, properties on the thruway? Is someone or the city buying that up to sell in hopes of some kind of lane expansion? there must be 50 boarded up houses all along both sides of the thruway.

I don't know about any specific houses, but that area is supposed to become an elevated expressway at some point to continue the I-49 extension. Some of the residents along that route have been fighting proposed plans for a while.
It will probably be a very long time before it is actually be funded and completed, but 1 by 1 overpasses will be built. The albertsons parkway hwy 90 intersection just got underway
