The 1 receiver formation

The Defense plays 9 in the box and double covers our receiver and then we wonder why we can't run the ball?? If we lined up in a 4 receiver set that would allow some space to let our running backs run through some lanes and not having 5 or 6 o-lineman trying to block 9 guys . We still don't know what Jennings can do or the o-line can do because the predictable play calling has put both at a disadvantage. The shite gets real starting next week so I guess we find out .

These are the games where you work on problem areas not win with defense. I know its ULM and we won 31-0 but I'm still not confident Jennings can throw a short pass .

How many times has the TE caught a pass in this formation in the last ten years? so that leaves one extra running back to cover

He can throw, just no one can catch them, from what I have seen...

The more salient question though, is how often has Cam used a TW as a weapon during his coaching career . I'll let you look that up for yourself.

Well you must have been asleep the last 10 seasons. These games are rarely used oike that for Miles. Jennings threw a few short passes last night so he can throw them. Not his strong suite but he will get better.

My complaint is when we put inferior tslent on the field that is not a threat to the defense.
Hell it the I-form worked just fine last night when Williams was at FB. Hell let Magee start at FB, he is great blocker (run and pass), he is an excellent receiver, and is a good runner btwn the tackles.

it still doesn't get anyone out of the box. If you spread the recievers (WR,TE,RB whatever) out a defender has to go with them.

See Wisconsin game for proof this works

That's my one and only beef with Miles. These games should be used to work on problem areas and help perfect getting aspects of the offense down that will be needed against better opponents.

When I watch other teams play inferior opponents they run their offense...I would rather run our offense and get work against inferior teams than work on them in sec games.

I know people are going to say, it was ULM, and I agree to a point, but when you are as young on offense as we are, you should use these games to their full advantage. I'm hoping it will all work out next week, and it should.
What I want most is for them to let Jennings just play. Don't bottle him up in the beginning of games. They did that against Iowa and then Wisconsin, and then try to tell him to throw us back into the game. I think it's stupid to hold your QB back.
ETA: and stick with one RB. Having guys swap in and 9 UT will not work. I hate the committee approach unless there is one guy leading the committee. The main back needs to average 18+ carries a game and the second should be around 9-10. I really don't care who gets the bulk just as long as they are the best of the group.

Everyone says ULM is good defensively...seemed like a great opportunity to run our offense if that's the case. We knew we would win so why not use multiple formations and "practice" the entire offense?

we didn't really succeed with offensive scheme as much as we ended up bullying a vastly inferior opponent over time
that's not going to help us develop for SEC play
people had hope after the MSU game that this wasn't going to be the 2010 offense. then we laid a stinker and people are worried again

I don't think Les Miles understands simple physics.
One receiver formations are inherently inferior at breaking gains because crowds mean fewer holes.

Your assuming miles tries to score points every play, and that assumption is incorrect

RB by committee is a fine approach if u have a bunch of talented backs like we do. We just need to get our talented guys on tge field.
